Throughout the first half of 2006, Jemaine Clement appeared in several Outback commercials.

A series of L & P commercials, featuring Jemaine Clement of Flight of the Conchords, are based around Kiwiana themed items, and were very popular with New Zealanders.

Clement of Alexandria ( Stromata, ii, 20 ) also makes Barnabas one of the Seventy Disciples that are mentioned in the Gospel of Luke 10: 1ff.

Immediately after his appointment as Cardinal, Pope Clement made him a Cardinal Inquisitor, in which capacity he served as one of the judges at the trial of Giordano Bruno, and concurred in the decision which condemned Bruno to be burned at the stake as a heretic.

After the long deadlocked vacancy in the papal see after the death of Clement IV, a vacant seat of three years, he was one of the six cardinals who finally elected Pope Gregory X by compromise on 1 September 1271 in a conclave held at Viterbo because conditions in Rome were too turbulent.

Pope Clement VIII appears as one of dramatis personae in the album The Metal Opera ( 2000 ) by German heavy metal band Avantasia, where he plays vital role in the fantasy-styled plot.

Even his name is variable: the Syriac version of Eusebius calls him throughout not Matthias but " Tolmai ", not to be confused with Bartholomew ( which means Son of Tolmai ) who was originally one of the twelve Apostles ; Clement of Alexandria says some identified him with Zacchaeus ; the Clementine Recognitions identify him with Barnabas ; Hilgenfeld thinks he is the same as Nathanael in the Gospel of John.

Regardless, on the strength of the donation of Avignon, Queen Joanna I of Sicily, as countess of Provence, sold the city to Clement VI for 80, 000 florins on 9 June 1348 and, though it was later the seat of more than one antipope, Avignon belonged to the Papacy until 1791, when, during the disorder of the French Revolution, it was reincorporated with France.

In the four months ' conclave which followed the death of Clement XIV Spain, France and Portugal at length dropped their objection to Braschi, who was after all one of the more moderate opponents of the anti-Jesuit policy of the previous Pope, and he was elected to the Holy See on 15 February 1775, taking the name of Pius VI.

It is possible that the Church from which Clement sent his epistle had included a festal homily to share in one economical post, thus the homily became known as the Second Epistle of Clement.

His father was James Fitzsimmons, born in County Armagh, Ireland and his mother was Jane Strongman, born in St Clement, Cornwall ; making Fitzsimmons half Irish and half Cornish by blood.
