The Bedford Urban Area which includes Kempston, Elstow and Biddenham forms the 71st largest Urban Area in the UK with a population of 101, 928.

In 1896 the parish was divided into Kempston Urban District 1, 255 acres ( 5. 1 km² ) and the civil parish of Kempston Rural 3, 770 acres ( 15 km² ).

Kempston in 1908The Urban District was based on East End, Up End and Kempston New Town all of which are in the north eastern part of the parish close to Bedford, and had 86. 8 % of the total population at the 1901 census.

In 1974 Kempston Urban District was abolished and Kempston reverted to being a civil parish, in the Borough of Bedford but with a separate town council with minor powers.

Note 2: The 2001 Kempston Urban figure is the combined total for the three urban wards of Kempston East, Kempston North and Kempston South.

This is a consequence of the division of the old larger Kempston parish in 1896 into Kempston town and Kempston Rural.

They were amended when, in 1965 under the London Government Act 1963, East Barnet Urban District and Barnet Urban District were abolished and their area was transferred to Greater London to form part of the present-day London Borough of Barnet.

At the same time the Potters Bar Urban District of Middlesex was transferred to Hertfordshire.

The following year they won their first election when Marcus Counihan was elected to Killarney Urban District Council during the 1985 Local Elections.

Under the District Councils Act 1895, The Maldens & Coombe Urban District Council was created ( the plural relating to Old Malden and New Malden ).

Occasionally artists make impromptu performances ; for example, in 2010, a troupe of 22 dancers " contort their bodies and cram themselves into the nooks and crannies of the Financial District in Bodies in Urban Spaces " choreographed by Willi Donner.

In 1894, the Local Government Act 1894 created the Staines Urban District of Middlesex.

In 1965, under the London Government Act 1963, most of the rest of Middlesex became part of Greater London while Staines Urban District was transferred to Surrey.

In 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, the Staines Urban District was abolished and its area combined with that of the former Sunbury-on-Thames Urban District to form the present-day borough of Spelthorne.

Dodoma ( literally " It has sunk " in Gogo ), officially Dodoma Urban District, population 324, 347 ( 2002 census ), is the national capital of Tanzania, and the capital of the Dodoma region.

Bacup's first local authority was a Local board of health established in 1863 ; Bacup Local Board of Health was a regulatory body responsible for standards of hygiene and sanitation in the Bacup Urban Sanitary District.

In the 80 years prior to 1974, the town had fallen within Shepton Mallet Urban District.

Biggin Hill was an ancient parish county of Kent, in the Diocese of Rochester, and under the Local Government Act 1894 formed part of Bromley Urban District.

From 1894 to 1965 Carshalton formed part of the Carshalton Urban District.

Federal disaster relief and recovery was brought under the umbrella of the Department of Housing and Urban Development ( HUD ), in 1973 by Presidential Reorganization Plan No. 1 of 1973, and the Federal Disaster Assistance Administration was created as an organizational unit within the department.

Municipal Communications was founded in Kielce, July 22, 1951, when the Faculty was created, and then Department of Urban Transport in the City of Municipal Enterprises in Kielce.

In 1965, the London Government Act 1963 abolished the Municipal Borough of Wimbledon, the Merton and Morden Urban District and the Municipal Borough of Mitcham and in their place created the London Borough of Merton.

The London Borough of Havering was created in 1965 by the combined former area of the Municipal Borough of Romford and Hornchurch Urban District which had been transferred to Greater London from Essex by the London Government Act 1963.

By the earlier 20th century, both were created Urban District Councils ( UDC ), as was Foots Cray ( an ancient village site ).

The borough has been twinned with the French town of Mantes-la-Jolie and the German town of Schleswig since the Hayes & Harlington Urban District created the link in 1958.

The present-day borough of Thurrock was created in 1974 from the former area of Thurrock Urban District.

They created the Housing and Redevelopment Authority in response and in 1983 were successful in obtaining a $ 600, 000 grant from the federal department of Housing and Urban Development.
