Australia's involvement in Vietnam increased significantly under Holt, with Australian troops fighting and dying in sometimes desperate battles like Long Tan.

Zhou was sent to oversee the event, but the moving figures seem to have been Tan Pingshan and Li Lisan, while the main military figures were Ye Ting and He Long.

Rather, they had six primary targets to strike in the downtown area: the headquarters of the ARVN General Staff at Tan Son Nhut Air Base ; the Independence Palace, the US Embassy, Saigon, the Long Binh Naval Headquarters, and the National Radio Station.

His nephew and son of Long Tan ( Temengggong ), Long Senik Mulut Merah, triumphed over his uncles and cousins and assumed the throne in 1835 as Sultan Muhammad II.

In 1974 a fifth company was raised — Long Tan — while in 1976, a sixth company was raised and Romani Company was re-established.

Kokoda was reformed in 1987 as the size of the Corps reached 370 cadets, while Long Tan was disbanded in 1991 and reformed in 1995.

There are currently five full-time companies making up the Corps, these are: Long Tan, Alamein, Gallipoli, Kapyong and Kokoda.

D Company 6 RAR also received the Distinguished Unit Citation, this time in Vietnam at the Battle of Long Tan ; although the respective battle honours are borne by the whole regiment, the three citations awarded by the United States are held solely by the battalions that received them, and are displayed as streamers on the respective regimental colours of those battalions.

A Presidential Unit Citation was awarded to D Company by the then President of the United States, Lyndon B. Johnson, for the Battle of Long Tan.

August 18 is now commemorated each year as Long Tan Day, in memory of Australian soldiers who served in the Vietnam War.

The streamer of the citation, bearing the honour ' Long Tan ', is carried on the Regimental Colour of the 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment.

The Battle of Long Tan ( 18 August 1966 ) took place near the village of Long Tan, north east of Vung Tau, in Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

The Texas Country band Turnpike Troubadours recorded a song entitled " Long, Hot Summer Day "

The Kinks ' early recordings of 1964 ranged from covers of R & B standards like " Long Tall Sally " and " Got Love If You Want It "; to the chiming, melodic beat music of Ray Davies ' earliest original compositions for the band, " You Still Want Me " and " Something Better Beginning "; to the more influential proto-metal, protopunk, power chord-based hard rock of the band's first two hit singles, " You Really Got Me " and " All Day and All of the Night ".

During his senior year at Princeton, Buechner received the Irene Glascock Prize for poetry, and he also began working on his first novel and one of his greatest critical successes: A Long Day ’ s Dying, published in 1950.

The publication of A Long Day ’ s Dying catapulted Buechner into early and, in his own words, " undeserved " fame.

In a long and distinguished career, A Long Day ’ s Dying continues to be one of Buechner ’ s most successful works, both critically and commercially ( it was reissued in 2003 ).

However, the developing tourist infrastructure on Long Key was largely destroyed by the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935.
