Timely's first publication, Marvel Comics # 1 ( cover dated Oct. 1939 ), included the first appearance of Carl Burgos ' android superhero the Human Torch, and the first generally available appearance of Bill Everett's anti-hero Namor the Sub-Mariner, among other features.

This was not the first time that Marvel's characters had interacted with one another — Namor the Sub-Mariner and the Original Human Torch had been rivals in Marvel's " Golden Age "— but it was the first time that the comic book publisher's characters seemed to share a world.

The superhero team the Defenders prevent the scheme and defeat the villains ( and Nebulon ), with Namor the Sub-Mariner humiliating the Whizzer.

As well, it contained the first generally available appearance of Bill Everett's anti-hero Namor the Sub-Mariner, created for the unpublished movie-theater giveaway comic Motion Picture Funnies Weekly earlier that year, with the eight-page original story now expanded by four pages.

The pair are opposed by a reuniting of three of the original Defenders ( Strange ; the Hulk and Namor the Sub-Mariner ), With Umar betraying Dormammu and then being defeated in turn.

In addition, Namor the Sub-Mariner # 46, Quasar # 31-53, and Quasar # 57-60 were unnumbered tie-ins to the crossover.

The second arc, which saw Austen writing former Avengers U. S. Agent and Namor, the Sub-Mariner attempting to liberate a middle eastern country from its corrupt leadership, served as launching pad for the short-lived 2004 Invaders series.

The team consisted of the original Defenders: Doctor Strange, The Incredible Hulk, Namor the Sub-Mariner and Silver Surfer.

Skids aided the New Mutants and Namor the Sub-Mariner against an undersea monster.

Thundra later assisted the Fantastic Four against the Frightful Four again, and then assisted the Fantastic Four against Namor the Sub-Mariner.

In Marvel Zombies: Return: Avengers, Thundra is shown to be a member of the Sentry's undead group along with Super-Skrull, Quasar, Moon Knight, Namor the Sub-Mariner and Quicksilver.

A Golden Age version of the Red Guardian appeared first in Namor, The Sub-Mariner Annual # 1.

Originally, Captain America ( Steve Rogers ), his sidekick Bucky ( James Barnes ), the original android Human Torch (" Jim Hammond "), the Torch's sidekick Toro ( Thomas Raymond ), and Namor the Sub-Mariner were together as heroes opposing the forces of Nazism.

In September 2010, Marvel launched Invaders Now, a miniseries starring Steve Rogers: Super Soldier, Captain America ( Bucky ), the original Human Torch, Toro, Namor the Sub-Mariner, and Spitfire.

Lee first rose to prominence in the industry for his work on Marvel's Namor the Sub-Mariner, Inhumans ( for which he won an Eisner Award ), and The Sentry, as well as his creator-owned character Hellshock at Image Comics.

2, # 1-5 ( Feb. 2007-Jan. 2008 ), recounting the adventures of a team that Iron Man assembled after the war consisting of himself, Black Bolt, Mister Fantastic, Professor X, Namor and Doctor Strange, feeling that all of them together possessed information that could have averted Earth's involvement in the war if they'd worked together.

Around this time, Doom 2099 became the only 2099 comic to crossover with a present-day Marvel comic when he traveled back to 1996 and met Daredevil, the Fantastic Four, and Namor in a story partially told in Fantastic Four # 413.

In Ultimate Fantastic Four # 24, Reed Richards calls the Ultimate version of Namor " possibly the most powerful metahuman on Earth ".

John Byrne resurrected the Iron Fist character in the pages of Namor around # 20 – 25, bringing him in as a supporting character for that title.

Namor was cancelled at # 62 ( though Iron Fist had fallen into disuse long before that, when Byrne had left the title ), and Cage was cancelled after 20 issues.

In two memorable adventures ( published in # 7 and # 10 respectively ), they met a parody of Marvel ' superheroes such Iron Man and Spider-Man ( here called " Cobweb Kid ") (# 7 ), and then (# 10 ) fought alongside the " Kookie Four " ( the humorous version of the Fantastic Four ) and Sub-Moron ( an obvious look-alike to Namor ) to repel an invasion of aliens with hypnotic eyes and garlic breath.

Marrina is briefly featured in House of M # 6 during Genosha's celebration over mutantkind's victory over man, alongside Namor.

In Fantastic Four # 242 ( May 1982 ), series writer / artist John Byrne portrays an Elfquest play staged at a theatre built over the site of the flophouse where the Human Torch found the amnesiac Namor in Fantastic Four # 4.

Later Marvel issues would expand Emma's character history by depicting her as having past romantic histories with prominent Marvel characters, such as Iron Man and Prince Namor.

The 2007 twelve issue crossover series Avengers / Invaders saw the original WWII team of Captain America, Bucky, Namor, Toro and the Human Torch ( leaving Spitfire and a wounded Union Jack in the past ) brought to the present-day Marvel Universe by the cosmic cube, which had fallen into the hands of the villain D ' Spayre, whose use of it to draw on the grief generated by Captain America's death had unintentionally caused it to grant the wish of those who wished for his return.

Hall's single most ambitious display of power was when he held almost every Marvel hero in stasis, including the whole Fantastic Four, some of the X-Men and such physical powerhouses as Thor, Hercules, the Hulk and Namor, and began using his powers to try reshaping the Earth in his image.

While this title lasted only three issues, she regularly appeared with Namor in Marvel Mystery Comics and Sub-Mariner ( and in the latter until the series ended in the mid-fifties ).

Unlike the Marvel Universe Namor and Namora, she has the blue skin of most Atlanteans.
