Miklós Horthy de Nagybánya (,, German: Nikolaus von Horthy und Nagybánya ; 18 June 1868 – 9 February 1957 ) was the Regent of the Kingdom of Hungary during the interwar years and throughout most of World War II, serving from 1 March 1920 to 15 October 1944.

He perhaps had a general knowledge of the false decretals, but did not base his view of the law upon them and owed his knowledge of them solely to documents that came to him from the Frankish Empire " Papst Nikolaus I. und Pseudo-Isidor " in Historisches Jahrbuch, XXV ( 1904 ), 1 sqq.
