García Lorca did not begin a career in writing until his piano teacher died in 1916 and his first prose works such as " Nocturne ", " Ballade " and " Sonata " drew on musical forms.

Oistrakh characterised the first movement Nocturne as " a suppression of feelings ", and the second movement Scherzo as " demoniac ".
