The Mountain Park neighborhood, located between Oak Creek and Holly Orchard on its west side and Forest Highlands and Uplands on its east, has a homeowners ' association serving the role of neighborhood association for its residents.

The Crab Orchard Mountains comprise a large area of the county, which includes several designated wilderness areas, Frozen Head State Park, and Lone Mountain State Forest.

Based on the 2010 Census, cities like Farmington ( 25. 3 %), Farmington Hills ( 31. 7 %), Novi ( 30. 12 %), Oak Park ( 62. 61 %), Lathrup Village ( 72. 97 %), Orchard Lake Village ( 16. 08 %), Rochester Hills ( 20. 94 %), Troy ( 29. 4 %), Wixom ( 26. 28 %), West Bloomfield ( 24. 0 %), Bloomfield ( 18. 28 %), Bloomfield Hills ( 14. 2 %), Ferndale ( 17. 2 %), and Madison Heights ( 17. 7 %) have significant non-white populations most notably African American and Asian Americans.

There are four major public parks in the County-Freedom Hill County Park, Macomb Orchard Trail, Metro Beach Metropark, and Stony Creek Metropark.

* Waterport Pond – A wide part of the Oak Orchard River is partly in the town.

A dormitory in the Orchard Hill residential area at the University of Massachusetts Amherst also bears Field's name.

In the early hours of Saturday 9 December 2006, a large fire swept through the Cherry Orchard residential home, killing one elderly woman and forcing 12 others to be rescued.

The two large residential homes, Giles Gate and Cherry Orchard, have allowed the elderly to take advantage of Prestwood's surroundings.

The vacated building was demolished and in 2008 Orchard Care Homes opened two residential units, one specialising in dementia care, on the site.

Currently, the surrounding land is being graded to prepare for the construction of Orchard Hills, a future residential community extending north from the existing community of Northwood Pointe.
