The American Revolution begins this year, with the first military engagement being the April 19 Battles of Lexington and Concord on the day after Paul Revere's now-legendary ride.

He is most famous for alerting Colonial militia of approaching British forces before the battles of Lexington and Concord, as dramatized in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, " Paul Revere's Ride.

Although the latter was engraved by Revere and he included the inscription, " Engraved, Printed, & Sold by Paul Revere Boston ", it was modeled on a drawing by Henry Pelham, and Revere's engraving of the drawing was colored by a third man and printed by a fourth.

The marchers traveled from Lexington, Massachusetts, to Bunker Hill, " which retraced Paul Revere's ride of 1775 and ended in the massive arrest of 410 veterans and civilians by the Lexington police.

This incident was chronicled in a derisive poem, based on the Longfellow poem " Paul Revere's Ride ;" it began with the line, " Come gather round children and hold your applause for the afternoon ride of Charlie Dawes.

The title alludes to Paul Revere's Ride, as does the subplot in which the town drunk ( Ben Blue ) rides his horse to warn people of the ' invasion '.

It's been alleged that the town was along the path of Paul Revere's Ride on the eve of April 19, 1775, but Revere's path is well documented, and he did not travel to Westford.

Paul Revere's son attended Westford Academy and a bell cast by Revere graces its lobby today .. A weather vane made by Paul Revere sits atop the Abbot Elementary school.

Hancock's Meetinghouse is home to Paul Revere's # 236 bell, which chimes on the hour, day and night.

Anchor Liberty Ale, a 6 % abv ale originally brewed by Anchor Brewing Company as a special in 1975 to commemorate Paul Revere's midnight ride in 1775 which marked the start of the American War of Independence, was seen by Michael Jackson as the first modern American ale.

( The first of the three is a parody of " Paul Revere's Ride " by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Also, the First Church of Roxbury was the starting point for William Dawes ' " Midnight Ride ", April 18, 1775 ( in a different direction than Paul Revere ) to warn Lexington and Concord of the British raids during the Revolutionary War.

Fra Marino also claims to have been alerted to the existence of the Gospel of Barnabas, from an allusion in a work by Irenaeus against Paul ; in a book which had been presented to him by a lady of the Colonna family ( Marino, outside Rome, is the location of the Palazzo Colonna ).

Several riders — including Paul Revere — alerted the countryside, and when the British troops entered Lexington on the morning of April 19, they found about 80 minutemen formed up on the village common.

On 29 March 1898, Hermann von Eckardstein, who had described Chamberlain as " unquestionably the most energetic and enterprising personality of the Salisbury ministry ", arranged a meeting between the Colonial Secretary and the German Ambassador in London, Paul von Hatzfeldt.

Historian Paul Moon believes the instructions were written by Sir James Stephen, then head of the Colonial Office.

Although he intuited that the arrival of Paul Revere on December 13, 1774 was likely to cause trouble, he was unable to prevent the local militia, now effectively under control of the revolutionary committees, from marching on Fort William and Mary the next day and seizing the provincial armaments and gunpowder.

The reprisals came quickly, the troops destroyed Stony Gut, and Paul Bogle's chapel, Bogle was captured by the Maroon militia, and taken to Morant Bay where he was put on trial and hung at the burnt-out courthouse.

He was the father of Samuel and Abel Prescott who both joined Paul Revere and William Dawes on their ride to warn the militia that the British were on the move.

Paul Sorvino co-stars as Colonel Malcolm Grommett Spears, a retired right-wing soldier who leads a militia in battling the zombies and transmitting a civil defense message for Americans to break their addiction to the Stuff by destroying it with fire.
