At this time the Stone Roses decided to capitalise on their success by signing to a major label ; then, their current record label Silvertone would not let them out of their contract, which led to a long legal battle that culminated with the band signing with Geffen Records in 1991, and then releasing their second album Second Coming in 1994.

He asked if they could be transferred internally to Andrew Lauder's newly-created Guitar based Silvertone Records subsidiary.

Silvertone owners Zomba Records took out an injunction against the band in September 1990 to prevent them from recording with any other label, but in May 1991 the court sided with the group, which was then released from its contract.

When the single " Flood " began to climb the charts on mainstream radio stations, Silvertone Records ( Essential's parent company ) started to heavily promote the song, turning it into one of the biggest mainstream hits ever by a band on a Christian label.

New indie label Silvertone Records offered Kember a generous one-off album deal which he accepted.

They did not face the public again until the end of 1994, spending the intervening time in and out of studios in Wales-where they recorded a second album, Second Coming-and fighting in court to release themselves from their contract with Silvertone Records.

" Elephant Stone " is the third single by The Stone Roses and their first release on Silvertone Records.

It was produced by New Order bassist Peter Hook in his own studio initially for release on Rough Trade Records and remixed by John Leckie following a deal with Silvertone Records.

The Gennett company produced the Gennett, Starr, Champion, Superior, and Van Speaking labels, and also produced some Supertone, Silvertone, and Challenge records under contract.

The company was also contracted to make guitars and amplifiers that were branded not with the Danelectro name, but with the names of various store brands, such as Silvertone and Airline.

The first single for Silvertone, " Elephant Stone ", made little impact, and in early 1989 the band's performances outside the north-west were still attracting small audiences.

By July the band had released their final single for Silvertone, " One Love ", which reached number four in the UK singles chart, their highest placing yet.

It was to be the Roses ' last original release for four years as they entered a protracted legal battle to terminate their five-year contract with Silvertone, unhappy with how they had been paid by the label.

However, Silvertone appealed against the ruling, delaying the record for another year.

The EP was re-released in 1997 with a slightly different track listing on Silvertone.

I asked my dad for a set of drums for my tenth birthday but he came home with a Sears Silvertone guitar ... I had wanted a set of drums, but my folks couldn't afford them, so I got the guitar.

After school and on weekends Williams sang and played his Silvertone guitar on the sidewalk in front of the WSFA radio studios.

The band's basic line-up was drums, guitar and vocals, though when they formed their only instruments were a pair of maracas and a Sears Silvertone guitar purchased at a thrift shop.

In the late 1990s, the Evets Corporation started selling primarily copies of old Silvertone and Danelectro guitars, as well as newly designed effects pedals and small amplifiers.

He has also played a Danelectro Silvertone ( Sears model dating to 1962 or 1963 ) for one-off solo shows.

Currently he is playing with The Search Engines and Silvertone.

He played bass with San Francisco punk band The Avengers but become better known as lead guitarist with Stockton crooner Chris Isaak and his band Silvertone, and featured in Isaak's solo albums Silvertone, Chris Isaak, Heart Shaped World, and San Francisco Days.
