* 1953 – The first U. S. experimental 3D-TV broadcast showed an episode of Space Patrol on Los Angeles ABC affiliate KECA-TV.

* Several episodes of Space Patrol, a 1962 puppet television series, dealt with Mars

* Space Patrol Delta, an organization in Power Rangers: S. P. D.

Within eight months of Captain Video's debut, two other landmark series were launched-Tom Corbett, Space Cadet ( 8 / 50-6 / 55 ) and Space Patrol ( 3 / 50-2 / 55 ).

A similar puppet-based series to the Anderson ones was Space Patrol ( 1962 – 64 ), produced by Roberta Leigh, for Associated British Corporation ( ABC ).

The movie, which was released in Japan on August 6, 1977, was edited down further and dubbed into English in 1978 ; entitled Space Cruiser Yamato or simply Space Cruiser, it was only given a limited theatrical release in Europe & Latin America, where it was called Patrulha Estelar ( Star Patrol ) or Astronave Intrepido ( Starship Intrepid ), though it was later released on video in most countries.

Space Cadet is a 1948 science fiction novel by Robert A. Heinlein about Matt Dodson, who joins the Space Patrol to help preserve peace in the Solar System.

In 2075, teenager Matt Dodson applies to join the prestigious Space Patrol.

The Space Patrol is entrusted by the worldwide Earth government with a monopoly on nuclear weapons, and is expected to maintain a credible threat to drop them on Earth from orbit as a deterrent against breaking the peace.

The novel refers to the " Space Patrol ," the interplanetary peace-keeping organization described in Space Cadet.

In 1999, Lieutenant John Ezra Dahlquist is a member of the Space Patrol, an international organization with the custody of all Earth's remaining nuclear weapons.

In Space Cadet, Ezra Dahlquist is one of " hose who helped create the Tradition of the Patrol ".

Space Patrol has been the title of several science fiction works:

* Space Patrol ( 1950 TV series ), the United States 1950s TV series with a concurrent radio version

* Raumpatrouille, a 1966 German 7-part space opera, known as Space Patrol in English

* Several of Robert A. Heinlein's books and stories in the 1940s and 1950s featured a Space Patrol, first appearing in " Solution Unsatisfactory "

*" Space Patrol ", one of The Simpsons shorts

* Lumen — The Planet of Light in the British puppet TV series Space Patrol.

Captured by Captain Big Nasty of the Outer Space Patrol, he was fitted with a collar that prevented him from bulking up, and also from speaking.

Time Out was followed by several albums with a similar approach, including Time Further Out: Miro Reflections ( 1961 ), using more 5 / 4, 6 / 4, and 9 / 8, plus the first attempt at 7 / 4 ; Countdown: Time in Outer Space ( dedicated to John Glenn ) ( 1962 ), featuring 11 / 4 and more 7 / 4 ; Time Changes ( 1963 ), with much 3 / 4, 10 / 4 ( which was really 5 + 5 ), and 13 / 4 ; and Time In ( 1966 ).

A participant in the U. S. Air Force's Man in Space Soonest and X-20 Dyna-Soar human spaceflight programs, Armstrong joined the NASA Astronaut Corps in 1962.

Rice acted as a temporary intermediary in the transfer of land between Humble Oil and Refining Company and NASA, for the creation of NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center ( now called Johnson Space Center ) in 1962.

In July 1962 Glenn testified before the House Space Committee in favor of excluding women from the NASA astronaut program.

The first NASA launch facility there ( Launch Complex 39 ) was designed and operated by MSFC, then in on July 1, 1962, the overall site achieving equal status with other NASA centers and was named the Launch Operations Center, later renamed the Kennedy Space Center ( KSC ).

The first appearance of a space-faring Robinson family ( unrelated to the series ' Robinsons ) was in a comic book published by Gold Key Comics, The Space Family Robinson, in December 1962.

Much less successful was another Space Adventures superhero, Mercury Man, star of two stories in 1962.

It remained the tallest building on the West Coast until the Space Needle overtook it in 1962.

On July 4, 1962, NASA opened the Manned Spacecraft Center in southeast Houston in the Clear Lake area, now the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center.

Section 102 ( d ) of the National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 calls for “ the establishment of long-range studies of the potential benefits to be gained from, the opportunities for, and the problems involved in the utilization of aeronautical and space activities for peaceful and scientific purposes .” Because of this mandate, the Technology Utilization Program was established in 1962 which required technologies to be brought down to Earth and commercialized in order to help the US economy and improve the quality of life.

Between 1958 and 1963, when NASA started Project Mercury, LaRC served as the main office of the Space Task Group, with the office being transferred to the Manned Spacecraft Center ( now the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center ) in Houston in 1962 – 63.

It was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River from its completion in 1914 until the Space Needle overtook it in 1962.

During her career, she served at the University of London Observatory, Yerkes Observatory of the University of Chicago, Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, England, the California Institute of Technology, and from 1979 to 1988 was first director of the Center for Astronomy and Space Sciences at the University of California at San Diego ( UCSD ), where she has worked since 1962.

Beatty's film credits include: San Demetrio London ( 1943 ), Another Shore ( 1948 ), Captain Horatio Hornblower ( 1951 ), The Square Ring ( 1953 ), The Amorous Prawn ( 1962 ), 2001: A Space Odyssey ( 1968 ), Where Eagles Dare ( 1968 ), The Pink Panther Strikes Again ( 1976 ), Superman III ( 1983 ), Minder on the Orient Express ( 1985 ) and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace ( 1987 ).

The Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center grew from a planetarium established on the Kansas State Fairgrounds in 1962.

* Maila Nurmi, aka 1950s TV horror hostess Vampira and co-star of Ed Wood's Plan 9 From Outer Space attended Astoria High School in the late 1930s.

While the TV show went into reruns, Mike Judge went on to make movies: he directed such films as Extract, Idiocracy, and Office Space, which found favor with moviegoers and later became cult classics.

The characters have made cameo appearances ( either visually or only voices ) and have been referenced in numerous television shows, such as Friends, Two and a Half Men, Celebrity Deathmatch, Robot Chicken, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and Saturday Night Live ( TV Funhouse ), in films such as Airheads, Clueless, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and Jackass 3D, and even parodied in children shows such as Tiny Toon Adventures, Regular Show and Arthur.

This was done one year after the rest of the cast ( including both Mumy & Harris ) appeared inside TV Guide and said that the Sci Fi Channel had planned to do a Lost in Space marathon while promoting a new movie.

Harris was to appear in the planned TV movie, Lost in Space: The Journey Home, but died before production started in 2002 and the production was cancelled.

By 1998 Star Trek TV shows, movies, books, videotapes, and licensing provided so much of the studio's profit that " it is not possible to spend any reasonable amount of time at Paramount and not be aware of presence "; filming for Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine required up to nine of the largest of the studio's 36 sound stages.

Other children's series of note in the 1950s would be Captain Z-Ro which was broadcast starting in 1951, Rocky Jones, Space Ranger, and Flash Gordon ( 1954 TV series ) syndicated in 1954.

Viewer dissatisfaction with the ending of Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato prompted the production of a second Yamato TV season which retconned the film and presented a slightly different plot against Zōdah ( Prince Zordar in the Star Blazers dub ) and his Comet Empire, and ended without killing off the Yamato or its primary characters.

The Hubble Space Telescope, launched in 1990, greatly expanded our understanding of the Universe and brought brilliant images to TV and computer screens around the world.

The TV series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine features a shuttlecraft named the Chaffee.

He had his first credited TV or film appearance with a small but notable part in a 1952 episode of the science fiction TV series Tales of Tomorrow entitled " Ice from Space ".

For example, BBC used DVCPRO50 to record high-budget TV series, such as Space Race ( 2005 ) and Ancient Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire ( 2006 ).

Astronauts Conrad and Bean examined the spacecraft, and they brought back about 10 kg of parts of the Surveyor to the Earth, including its TV camera, which is now on permanent display in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D. C.

No instrumentation was carried specifically for scientific experiments by Surveyor 1, but considerable scientific data was collected by its TV camera and then returned to the Earth via the Deep Space Network in 1966-67.
