Tatlin achieved fame as the architect who designed the huge Monument to the Third International, also known as Tatlin's Tower.

The canonical work of Constructivism was Vladimir Tatlin's proposal for the Monument to the Third International ( 1919 ) which combined a machine aesthetic with dynamic components celebrating technology such as searchlights and projection screens.

Gabo publicly criticized Tatlin's design saying Either create functional houses and bridges or create pure art, not both.

Tatlin's work was immediately hailed by artists in Germany as a revolution in art: a 1920 photograph shows George Grosz and John Heartfield holding a placard saying ' Art is Dead – Long Live Tatlin's Machine Art ', while the designs for the tower were published in Bruno Taut's magazine Fruhlicht.

Tatlin's tower started a period of exchange of ideas between Moscow and Berlin, something reinforced by El Lissitzky and Ilya Ehrenburg's Soviet-German magazine Veshch-Gegenstand-Objet which spread the idea of ' Construction art ', as did the Constructivist exhibits at the 1922 Russische Ausstellung in Berlin, organised by Lissitzky.

Tatlin's Constructivist tower was to be built from industrial materials: iron, glass and steel.

On September 11, 2001, Omari boarded American Airlines Flight 11 and assisted in the hijacking of the plane, which was crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, as part of the coordinated attacks.

American 11 was hijacked 15 minutes after the flight departed by Omari and four other hijackers, which allowed trained pilot Mohamed Atta to crash the Boeing 767 into the North Tower of the World Trade Center as part of an attack that killed thousands of people.

Its New York offices were on the 92nd and 98th – 105th floors of the South Tower of the World Trade Center at the time of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack.

Mohamed Mohamed el-Amir Awad el-Sayed Atta (, ) < span dir =" ltr ">( September 1, 1968 – September 11, 2001 )</ span > was an Egyptian hijacker and one of the ringleaders of the September 11 attacks who served as the hijacker-pilot of American Airlines Flight 11, crashing the plane into the North Tower of the World Trade Center as part of the coordinated attacks.

At 8: 46 a. m., Atta crashed the Boeing 767 into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

Madeline Amy Sweeney ( December 14, 1966 – September 11, 2001 ), known as Amy Sweeney, was an American flight attendant on board American Airlines Flight 11 which was hijacked and flown deliberately into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City, as part of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

After American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower ( 1 WTC ) of the World Trade Center, a standard announcement was given to tenants in the South Tower ( 2 WTC ) to stay put and that the building was secure.

Since three of the major broadcast networks had their transmission towers atop the North Tower ( One World Trade Center ), coverage was limited after the collapse of the tower.

Unlike most other major New York television stations, WCBS-TV maintained a full-powered backup transmitter at the Empire State Building after moving its main transmitter to the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
