The green was bounded to the north by Penge Lane, the west by Beckenham Road and the southeast by the Crooked Billet.

On a modern map that area is very small but the modern day Penge Lane and Crooked Billet are not in their original locations and Beckenham Road would have been little more than a cart track following the property line on the west side of Penge High Street.

This left the Crooked Billet with no frontage to Beckenham Road, so new premises were constructed on the present site in 1827 and subsequently replaced in 1840 with a three-storey building.

As well as the town's Country Park, The North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre, formerly the Motherwell Heritage Centre on High Road, situated next to the town's railway station, is a building that displays the history of Motherwell from the Roman era.

The area surrounding Church Road today is the village's heritage area and the location of Molly Carooin's Cottage which is maintained by the Friends Of Onchan's Heritage, a local volunteer group.

In addition to the sections of Woodward Avenue in Pontiac that are part of Business Loop I-75 ( BL I-75 ) and Business US 24 ( BUS US 24 ), all of M-1 is a Michigan Heritage Route and an All-American Road.
