In February 1977, the first album by a British punk band appeared: Damned Damned Damned ( by the Damned ) reached number thirty-six on the UK chart.

He appeared in an episode of Columbo in 1975, and the following year made his final screen appearance in Voyage of the Damned, for which he received another Golden Globe nomination.

The TV show The Young Ones included an entire episode entitled " Nasty ", in which the characters rent a video recorder specifically to watch a " video nasty " ( with the fictitious name " Sex With the Headless Corpse of the Virgin Astronaut "), and which featured a lip synched performance of " Nasty " by The Damned.

In the same month the British film The Damned United was released, chronicling the 44-day period in which Brian Clough was manager of Leeds United.

After that, they presented the idea to The Damned and The Clash, both of which quickly agreed to participate.

In fact, he asserts that he generally feels more kinship with punks than with heavy metal ; he even played with The Damned for a handful of gigs when they had no regular bassist and Lemmy's guttural vocals were unique in the world of rock at that time, as they would not be copied until the rise in popularity in punk.

They were also included in the lyrics to Bob Marley & The Wailers song, " Punky Reggae Party "-" The Wailers will be there, The Damned, The Jam, The Clash, The Maytals will be there, Dr. Feelgood too ".

A cartoon that was printed in The Gateway, " Antlers of the Damned ," depicted Jesus Christ and featured a dog sodomizing Space Moose.
