In early April 2011, it was announced that Styx would join up with Yes for a “ Progressive U. S. Tour ” that began on July 4, 2011.

DeYoung, however, stated that he's open to a Styx Reunion and that what he really wanted was for all of them to " come together as a band " which he and the fans were hoping for.

In 2007, DEP Records of Canada released DeYoung's stateside CD Dennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx Live with Symphony Orchestra which went on to achieve platinum status.

Styx member Dennis DeYoung revealed on In the Studio with Redbeard ( which devoted an entire episode to the making of The Grand Illusion ), that he was depressed when he wrote the track after Styx's first two A & M offerings, Equinox and Crystal Ball, sold fewer units than expected after the success of the single " Lady ".

Because A & M / Polygram had been unable to secure distribution rights to the song, most of the classic lineup of Styx ( Dennis DeYoung, Tommy Shaw, Chuck Panozzo, and James " J. Y.
