In 1955, he left Providence for Albany, New York, where he landed a job at station WROW-TV ( now WTEN ), hosting The Early Show featuring MGM movies and a kids ’ variety show, playing a " Gabby Hayes " type character named " Windy Knight ".

WTEN is the ABC-affiliated television station for the Capital District of New York State and Western New England that is licensed to Albany.

Poole retained ownership until 1977 when it sold its three television stations ( WPRI, WJRT, and WTEN in Albany, New York ) to Knight-Ridder Broadcasting.

Syndicated programming on WTEN includes: Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy !, Inside Edition, and The Doctors.

WTEN operates a full-time satellite, WCDC-TV, in Adams, Massachusetts.

Despite WCDC being located in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, Time Warner Cable carries WTEN instead of WCDC.

The new company took the name Capital Cities Television Corporation, as both WCDA ( now WTEN ) and WTVD served the capital regions of their respective states.

The acquisition of WPVI and WTNH gave them seven VHF stations, two stations over the FCC limit, and WTEN and WSAZ-TV were respectively spun off by CapCities to Poole Broadcasting and Lee Enterprises not long after the Triangle purchase was finalized.
