The United Nations was given a mandate to enforce a ceasefire, and deal with refugees and disarmament known as the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia ( UNTAC ).

It was only after the Provisional IRA declared a ceasefire in 1994 that the Continuity IRA became active, announcing its intention to continue the campaign against British rule.

With the advent of a Provisional IRA ceasefire and the beginning of what became known as the Peace Process during the 1990s, the official view of the Rising became more positive and in 1996 an 80th anniversary commemoration at the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin was attended by the Taoiseach and leader of Fine Gael, John Bruton.

Following the ceasefire declaration, Britain released over 2, 000 Jewish detainees it was still holding in Cyprus and recognized the state of Israel.

The war finally ended with a United Nations brokered ceasefire in the form of United Nations Security Council Resolution 598, which was accepted by both sides.

A team of U. N. inspectors, led by Swedish diplomat Hans Blix was admitted, into the country ; their final report stated that Iraqis capability in producing " weapons of mass destruction " was not significantly different from 1992 when the country dismantled the bulk of their remaining arsenals under terms of the ceasefire agreement with U. N. forces, but did not completely rule out the possibility that Saddam still had Weapons of Mass Destruction.

The war finally ended with United Nations Security Council Resolution 598, a ceasefire brokered by the United Nations which was accepted by both sides.

The Downing Street Declaration was issued on 15 December 1993 by Major and Albert Reynolds, the Irish Taoiseach, with whom he had a friendly relationship: an IRA ceasefire followed in 1994.

In the last days of 1948, a ceasefire was agreed under UN auspices, but since the plebiscite demanded by the UN was never conducted, relations between India and Pakistan soured, and eventually led to two more wars over Kashmir in 1965 and 1999.

The conflict started on 12 July 2006, and continued until a United Nations-brokered ceasefire went into effect in the morning on 14 August 2006, though it formally ended on 8 September 2006 when Israel lifted its naval blockade of Lebanon, leaving more than 1500 dead civilians and still the Israeli army couldn't penetrate the Lebanese land borders and was driven back by Hezbollah suffering heavy casualties and defeated.

By the time a ceasefire was negotiated on 12 June 1935, Paraguay had seized control of most of the region, as was later recognized by the 1938 truce.

At the end of 1986, Najibullah called for a six-months ceasefire and talks between the various opposition forces, this was part of his police of National Reconciliation.

The ceasefire line came into effect on January 1, 1949, after eighteen months of fighting between Indian forces and Afridi tribals which Pakistan had sent to occupy Kashmir and was last adjusted and agreed upon by the two countries according to the Simla Agreement of July 2, 1972 between Indira Gandhi and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

The rebellion began in early 1989, active hostilities ended with a truce in October 1997 and a permanent ceasefire was signed in April 1998.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad was unhappy with the ceasefire.

The impending currency crisis was averted after the country reached a hasty ceasefire agreement with the LTTE and brokered substantial foreign loans.

On 28 January 1932, Japanese forces struck and the Chinese resisted, fighting to a standstill ; a ceasefire was brokered in May.

In 1991, a ceasefire was agreed upon between the parties, contingent on the referendum being held the following year.

This ceasefire was criticized both in India and Pakistan, public resentment against each other grew.

In 1970, Saudi Arabia recognized the Yemen Arab Republic and a ceasefire was effected.

Zambia was active in the Congolese peace effort after the signing of a cease-fire agreement in Lusaka in July and August 1999, although activity diminished considerably after the Joint Military Commission tasked with implementing the ceasefire relocated to Kinshasa in September 2001.

He was also highly critical of a decision taken in Belfast by McKee to assassinate members of the rival Official IRA, who had been on ceasefire since 1972.

Ribbentrop finally scuttled Mussolini's peace plan by stating that Germany had utterly no interest in a ceasefire, in a withdrawal from Poland and in attending the proposed peace conference.

A spate of relatively small successes ( mostly of a defensive nature ) toward the end of the conflict did not prevent Paraguay from maintaining control of much of the disputed region at the time that agreement on a ceasefire was finally reached in June 1935.

While Sirik Matak, Long Boret, Lon Non and several other politicians remained in the capital in an attempt to negotiate a ceasefire, the Khmer Rouge finally entered the city on April 17 ; within a few days they had executed many representatives of the old regime, and the Khmer Republic had effectively come to an end.

As a young man, in 1243 he was taken into the Teutonic Order custody as a hostage, part of the ceasefire agreement between his father and the Order, but the Order did not keep their part of this agreement and failed to return Mestwin II who was held by them until 1248 ( for some time in the Order castle in Austria ) when finally released.

Following the abrogating of the ceasefire agreement in January 2008, the SLMM announced on 3 January 2008 that it would finally terminate its remaining operational activities in Sri Lanka with effect from 16 January 2008.

The PLO leadership finally ordered a ceasefire on March 28, 1978, after a meeting between UNIFIL commander General Emmanual Erskine and Yasser Arafat in Beirut.

It was finally ended with a ceasefire in 1991.

The clashes lasted for two days, until a ceasefire was finally achieved.

The unrest forced a ceasefire in the conflict with the Hammadids of Algeria, and their independence was finally recognized in 1018.

Both parties believed that the war was finally over, but attacks by other bands of Indians in south Florida continued and the ceasefire soon ended.

The IRA agreed to a ceasefire in February 1975, which lasted nearly a year before the IRA concluded that the British were drawing them into politics without offering any guarantees in relation to the IRA's goals, and hopes of a quick victory receded.

* February 8 – An IRA ceasefire ends with a half-tonne bomb in London's Canary Wharf District, killing 2 and causing over £ 85 million worth of damage.

A delegation of Parisian diplomats arrived in Tours by train on 5 February to negotiate with Gambetta, and the following day Gambetta stepped down and surrendered control of the provincial armies to the Government of National Defence, which promptly ordered a ceasefire across France.

In February 1949, Nasser was sent as a member of the Egyptian delegation to Rhodes to negotiate a formal ceasefire with Israel, and reportedly considered the terms to be humiliating.

As an envoy of Maskhadov, he also met in London with the representatives of the Union of the Committees of Soldiers ' Mothers of Russia in February 2005, where they agreed on a peace proposal centred around a gradual cessation of violence by rebels corresponding with the three-week ceasefire unilaterally declared by Maskhadov ( who once again called for President of Russia Vladimir Putin to negotiate ).

On the night of 27 / 28 February 1991, within hours of the ceasefire, two General Dynamics F-111Fs, loaded with one GBU-28 each, headed towards a target on the outskirts of Baghdad.

On 12 February lone Palestinians attacked Israel settlements and Abbas quickly fired some of his security officers for not stopping the attacks in a ceasefire.

It said it will review its ceasefire every three months, in February 2006, the Independent Monitoring Commission reported that the UDA continued its paramilitary activities, as well as involvement in organized crime, drug trafficking, counterfeiting, extortion, money laundering and robbery.

However, in February 2001, the group called off its ceasefire with a " Back to War " statement, but has not been thought to be active since then.

After the Lancaster House Agreement negotiated a ceasefire and paved the way for democracy, in late February 1980 elections were won by President Robert Mugabe.

On 15 February 1995, following the 1994 IRA ceasefire, English football hooligans caused the referee to abandon the game after just 27 minutes.

* 16 February 1919 – prolongation of Allied-German ceasefire in Trier is signed, which also referred to front in Greater Poland.

* 18 February 1919 – In spite of ceasefire, there is fighting near Rynarzewo.

* February 17: In the presence of the four guarantor countries of the Rio Protocol ( the USA, Brazil, Chile, Argentina ), Ecuadorian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affaris, Marcelo Fernández de Córdoba, and Peruvian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eduardo Ponce, sign a peace declaration in Brazil ( Declaración de Paz de Itamaraty ), confirming a ceasefire, a separation of forces, a general demobilization, and establishing a " guarantors " peacekeeping force, the MOMEP ( Military Observer Mission, Ecuador Peru ), charged with supervising the separation of forces, taking over the posts of Tiwinza and Base Sur, and suggesting the limits for an eventual demilitarized zone.

* February 28: After more days of confusing skirmishes, Ecuador and Peru sign the Montevideo Declaration, " reiterating their commitment to proceed to an immediate and effective ceasefire .".

On February 13, 1996 the party launched the " Nepalese People's War ", and it gained control of some rural areas throughout Nepal before a ceasefire agreement was reached.

While the Uprising, terminated by a German-Polish ceasefire agreed on February 16, 1919, led to an end of German rule in most of the territory of the Province of Posen, its northern outskirts including the Kreis Wirsitz remained calm and under German control.

By mid-January 1945, the city had been cleared of insurgents and a ceasefire agreed upon, followed by the Varkiza Agreement in February.

* February 22 – A ceasefire in Laos immediately ends all U. S. Air Force strikes there by tactical aircraft.

* February 28 – The U. S .- led Coalition calls a ceasefire with Iraq, with all Iraqi forces driven out of Kuwait and airpower having neutralized practically all of Iraqs ability to make war.

An example of a ceasefire in the Israeli – Palestinian conflict was announced between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority on February 8, 2005.

The most notable of these being the IRA ceasefire which was called on 31 August 1994 and ended on 9 February 1996 with the Docklands bombing.

Czech units were held up near Skoczów and a ceasefire was signed on 3 February.

* Friday 9 February 1996: One hour after a statement ending their ceasefire, the Provisional IRA detonated a large lorry bomb near South Quay DLR station in the London Docklands, killing two people, injuring 40, and causing £ 150 million worth of damage.
