On January 13, 2006, the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority released plans for a major renovation of the Pier, which would include a monorail, a spokeless Ferris wheel, a roller coaster, floating hotel, and an water park with a Great Lakes theme.

The second incarnation of the water coaster utilised linear induction motors and specially designed magnetic rafts.

The longest water coaster utilising this magnetic system is Mammoth at Splashin ' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana.

High powered water jets power the third type of water coaster, generically known as Master Blasters.

In 2010, ProSlide announced that they would be combining the family rafting and water coaster technologies to create a Hydromagnetic Mammoth.

The first installation of this variation will be the aptly titled Mammoth for the 2012 season at Splashin ' Safari in Indiana, which will replace the park's own Wildebeest as the longest water coaster in the world.

A water slide complex known as Racing Rivers opened in 1987, and Avalanche, which remains the only Mack bobsled roller coaster in the United States, debuted the following year in 1988.

Batman – The Dark Knight ( B & M Floorless coaster ) was added in 2002, the water park was doubled in size and renamed Hurricane Harbor in 2003, and two new rides were introduced for the 2005 season: the spinning coaster Pandemonium ( originally themed to Mr. Six ) and a water coaster named Typhoon.
