Another source of inspiration were Adriaen van Ostade and Isaac van Ostade, painters of rural scenes, who lived in Haarlem.

This can be seen in the development of Isaac van Ostade, who abandoned the genre techniques of his brother Adriaen van Ostade for the broader landscapes of the Ruisdael family.

Though he seems to have kept a workshop, his only registered pupils were Nicolaes van Berchem, Jan Steen, and Adriaen van der Kabel.

At a young age Brouwer, probably born as Adriaen de Brauwer in Oudenaarde, moved perhaps via Antwerp to Haarlem, where he became a student of Frans Hals alongside Adriaen van Ostade.

Adriaen van Ostade ( baptized as Adriaen Jansz Hendricx December 10, 1610 – buried May 2, 1685 ) was a Dutch Golden Age painter of genre works.

Although Adriaen and his brother Isaack were born in Haarlem, they adopted the name " van Ostade " as painters.

He collaborated with a number of prominent artists including Rubens, Hendrick van Balen ( 1575 – 1632 ), Adriaen Stalbemt ( 1580 – 1682 ), Lucas Van Uden ( 1596 – 1672 ), David Teniers the Younger and his father-in-law Abraham Janssens.

Ostade was the contemporary of David Teniers the Younger and Adriaen Brouwer.

He was more popular in Jülich-Berg, where he erected impressive buildings such as the Schloss Bensberg and led a lavish court which gave work to many artists and artisans, including the court painters Johannes Spilberg, his daughter Adriana, her later husband Eglon van der Neer, Adriaen van der Werff, Jan Frans van Douven, Herman van der Mijn, Jan van Nickelen, his daughter Jacoba Maria van Nickelen, her husband Willem Troost, Rachel Ruysch, Godfried Schalcken and Jan Weenix.

Johannes Lingelbach, Adriaen van de Velde and Eglon van der Neer assisted him by drawing the figures on his paintings.

Houbraken wrote that his brother Engel was also a painter, and that Adriaen was already living in Lyon when Johannes Glauber made his grand tour.

Led by the Catholic architect-painters Jacob van Campen and Pieter Post, other major Catholic artists of the day such as Gerard van Honthorst, Jacob Jordaens, Thomas Willeboirts Bosschaert, Theodoor van Thulden, Caesar van Everdingen, Salomon de Bray, Pieter Soutman, Gonzales Coques, Pieter de Grebber, Adriaen Hanneman and Jan Lievens filled the Oranjezaal (" Orange Hall " ) with paintings glorifying the late prince.

In the Low Countries a continuous tradition of grisaille paintings can be traced from Early Netherlandish painting to Martin Heemskerck, Pieter Brueghel the Elder ( Christ and the Woman Taken in Adultery ) and Hendrik Goltzius, and through the copious output of Adriaen van de Venne, to the circle of Rembrandt, and Jan van Goyen.

A condition of the separation was that the Elder could recover from his son Adriaen ‘ two royal gifts ’, presumably gifts from Charles II for work done in England .” Cordingly ’ s account further relates that the dispute was still continuing after another ten years, since “ in the autumn of 1672 Judith complained to the woman ’ s husband .” Robinson adds that by 1674 the couple “ must have been reconciled ”, for at a chance meeting with Pieter Blaeu in Amsterdam in July the Elder explained that he was only visiting for a few days “ in order to fetch his wife ”.

De Ruyter was born in 1607 in Flushing ( Vlissingen ) as the son of beer porter Adriaen Michielszoon and Aagje Jansdochter Little is known about De Ruyter's early life, but he probably became a sailor at the age of 11.

Although outnumbered, De Ruyter gained the weather gauge and sent his van under Adriaen Banckert in to separate the Allied van ( under D ' Estrées ) from the main fleet.

The Dutch van was commanded by Tromp, the centre by Lieutenant-Admiral Aert Jansse van Nes under direct supervision of De Ruyter himself and the rear by Lieutenant-Admiral Adriaen Banckert.

In the 16th century, there were already ships exploring the estuary, by Lawrence Keymis, Thomas Masham, Antonio de Berrio and Adriaen Cabeliau and in the 17th century, by Harcourt, Fisher and De Vries.
