In New England, because of the greater importance of towns over counties, similar areas are defined based on town units, known as New England City and Town Areas ( NECTAs ).

These six Army Areas, though similar in name, operated on a functional rather than geographic basis but roughly followed along the old corps areas boundaries.

The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council ( TTAADC ) is an independent council administering the tribal areas of the state of Tripura, India.
