The Court found in its verdict that the United States was " in breach of its obligations under customary international law not to use force against another State ", " not to intervene in its affairs ", " not to violate its sovereignty ", " not to interrupt peaceful maritime commerce ", and " in breach of its obligations under Article XIX of the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between the Parties signed at Managua on 21 January 1956.

# Decides that, by the acts referred to in subparagraph ( 6 ) hereof the United States of America has acted, against the Republic of Nicaragua, in breach of its obligations under Article XIX of the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between the United States of America and the Republic of Nicaragua signed at Managua on 21 January 1956 ;

# Decides that the United States of America, by the attacks on Nicaraguan territory referred to in subparagraph ( 4 ) hereof, and by declaring a general embargo on trade with Nicaragua on 1 May 1985, has acted in breach of its obligations under Article XIX of the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between the Parties signed at Managua on 21 January 1956 ;

In 2001, the European Union explicitly banned racism, along with many other forms of social discrimination, in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, the legal effect of which, if any, would necessarily be limited to Institutions of the European Union: " Article 21 of the charter prohibits discrimination on any ground such as race, color, ethnic or social origin, genetic features, language, religion or belief, political or any other opinion, membership of a national minority, property, disability, age or sexual orientation and also discrimination on the grounds of nationality.

The issue was included in the provisional agenda of the meeting of the commission to be held in New York from 7 March to 21 April 2011 and recommendations pursuant to Article 76 of the Convention were made.

The Court was established on the 21 January 1959 by virtue of Article 19 of the European Convention on Human Rights when eight signatories acknowledged the jurisdiction of the Court.

The total sum of 21 million dollars was to be paid in installments over three years and the Qing government would be charged an annual interest rate of 5 percent for the money that was not paid in a timely manner ( Article VII ).

* Freedom of assembly, association, speech, and secrecy of communications: All guaranteed without qualification by Article 21, which forbids censorship.

* Environmental protection ( Article 21 ) This article imposes a duty on government to ensure the habitability of the land — including the general infrastructure and especially the vital sea-defences — and the protection and improvement of the environment.

For that reason, when Congress formally proposed the repeal of Prohibition on February 20, 1933 ( with the requisite two-thirds having voted in favor in each house ; 63 to 21 in the United States Senate and 289 to 121 in the United States House of Representatives ), they chose the other ratification method established by Article V, that being via state conventions.

The Repertory on Article 24 says: " The question whether Article 24 confers general powers on the Security Council ceased to be a subject of discussion following the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice rendered on 21 June 1971 in connection with the question of Namibia ( ICJ Reports, 1971, page 16 )".

On 21 March 1921, the Foreign and Colonial office legal advisers decided to introduce Article 25 into the Palestine Mandate, which brought Transjordan under the mandate and stated that in that territory, Britain could ' postpone or withhold ' those articles of the Mandate concerning a Jewish National Home.

* Article 21 allows appeals to be made to neutral vessels to help collect and care for the wounded, sick, and shipwrecked.

Pursuant to its Article 63 ( whereby it was to " come into force three months after the reception by the Secretary General of the instruments of ratification or adherence of a simple majority " of the OAU's member states ), the African Charter on Human and Peoples ' Rights came into effect on 21 October 1986 – in honour of which 21 October was declared " African Human Rights Day ".

According to India's constitution, sexual harassment infringes the fundamental right of a woman to gender equality under Article 14 of the Constitution of India and her right to life and live with dignity under Article 21 of the Constitution.

Japan proposed the inclusion of a " racial equality clause " in the Covenant of the League of Nations on 13 February as an amendment to Article 21:

Significant changes introduced into the 1968 document included Article 6, which committed the state to adhere to the " principles of socialist internationalism " and to devote special attention to its " fraternal ties " with the Soviet Union ; Article 9, which based the national economy on the " socialist ownership of the means of production "; Article 20, which under pressure from the churches granted freedom of conscience and belief ; Article 21, which maintained that the " basic rights " of citizenship were inseparably linked with " corresponding obligations "; and Article 47, which declared that the principle of " democratic centralism " is the authoritative maxim for the construction of the socialist state.

`` Article 17, Section 1::

The Secretary of the Treasury, upon the concurrence of the Secretary of State, is authorized and directed, out of the sum covered into the Yugoslav Claims Fund pursuant to subsection ( B ) of this section, after completing the payments of such funds pursuant to subsection ( C ) of this Section, to make payment of the balance of any sum remaining in such fund to the Government of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia to the extent required under Article 1 ( C ) of the Yugoslav Claims Agreement of 1948.

In the event the total of rupees accruing to the Government of the United States of America as a consequence of sales made pursuant to this Agreement is different from the rupee equivalent of $1,276 million, the amounts available for the purposes specified in paragraph 1, Article 2, will be adjusted proportionately.

I have the honor to refer to the Agricultural Commodities Agreement signed today between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of India ( hereinafter referred to as the Agreement ) and, with regard to the rupees accruing to uses indicated under Article 2, of the Agreement, to state that the understanding of the Government of the United States of America is as follows: 1.

With respect to Article 2,, Paragraph 1 ( A ) of the Agreement: ( 1 )

With respect to Article 2,, paragraphs 1 ( B ) and 1 ( C ): Uses of Section 104 ( E ) and Section 104 ( G ) rupees: The Government of India will use the amount of rupees granted or loaned to it by the United States pursuant to paragraphs 1 ( B ) and 1 ( C ) for projects to promote economic development with emphasis upon the agricultural sector including food reserve storage structures and facilities as may from time to time be agreed upon by the authorized representatives of the United States and the authorized representatives of the Government of India, in the following sectors: A.

The Government of India further agrees in cooperation with the Government of the United States, to coordinate the use of grant and loan funds provided for in paragraphs 1 ( B ) and 1 ( C ) of Article 2, with such direct dollar assistance as may be made available by the Government of the United States of America, so that both sources of financing may be channeled to specific and clearly identifiable economic development programs and projects.

With regard to the rupees accruing to uses indicated under Article 2, of the Agreement, the understanding of the Government of the United States of America, with respect to both paragraphs 1 ( B ) and 1 ( C ) of Article 2, is as follows: ( 1 )

Local currency will be advanced or reimbursed to the Government of India for financing agreed projects under paragraphs 1 ( B ) and 1 ( C ) of Article 2, of the Agreement upon the presentation of such documentation as the United States may specify.

The Government of India shall maintain or cause to be maintained books and records adequate to identify the goods and services financed for agreed projects pursuant to paragraphs 1 ( B ) and 1 ( C ) of Article 2, of the Agreement, to disclose the use thereof in the projects and to record the progress of the projects ( including the cost thereof ).

Mr. Justice Black was one of the minority that rested on the Article 1, power.

In this view, supported by only three members of the Court, a power denied by the specific provisions of Article 3, was granted by the generality of Article 1.

What is required is the full implementation of Article 2 of the Treaty, which provides: `` The Parties will contribute toward the further development of peaceful and friendly international relations by strengthening their free institutions, by bringing about a better understanding of the principles upon which these institutions are founded, and by promoting conditions of stability and well-being.

All ships at port are subject to inspection in accordance with Article 7, Antarctic Treaty.

The act was later extended to Scotland, as a result of the Treaty of Union ( Article II ), enacted in the Acts of Union 1707 before it was ever needed.

By virtue of Article II of the Treaty of Union, which defined the succession to the throne of Great Britain, the Act of Settlement became part of Scots Law as well.

The Czech Republic also possesses Moldauhafen, a enclave in the middle of Hamburg docks, which was awarded to Czechoslovakia by Article 363 of the Treaty of Versailles to allow the landlocked country a place where goods transported downriver could be transferred to seagoing ships ; this territory reverts to Germany in 2028.

Article 16 ( 6 ) of the Treaty on European Union provides:

Article 17 ( 1 ) of the Treaty on European Union stated that: Citizenship of the Union is hereby established.

Article 12 of the amended EC Treaty guaranteed a general right of non-discrimination within the scope of the Treaty.

The government of Spain continues with an irredentist territorial claim to Gibraltar, which was ceded in perpetuity to the British Crown in 1713 by Article X of the Treaty of Utrecht.

The German Confederation was created by an act of the Congress of Vienna on 8 June 1815 as a result of the Napoleonic Wars, after being alluded to in Article 6 of the 1814 Treaty of Paris.

Hydrocodone is regulated in the same fashion as in Germany ( see below ) under the Austrian Suchtmittelgesetz ; since 2002 it has been available in the form of German products and those produced elsewhere in the European Union under Article 76 of the Schengen Treaty — prior to this, no Austrian companies produced hydrocodone products, with dihydrocodeine and nicomorphine being more commonly used for the same levels of pain and the former for coughing.

The port city of Memel ( now Klaipėda ) and the surrounding area, with a predominantly German population, was under provisional Allied control according to Article 99 of the Treaty of Versailles.

The Court had ruled on 26 November by 11 votes to one that it had jurisdiction in the case on the basis of either Article 36 ( i. e. compulsory jurisdiction ) or the 1956 Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between the United States and Nicaragua.

Article 14 of the Covenant of the League of Nations, created after the Treaty of Versailles, allowed the League to investigate setting up an international court.

Portugal further bases its case on Article 105 of the Treaty of Vienna of 1815, which Spain signed in 1817, that states that the winning countries are to " endeavour with the mightiest conciliatory effort to return Olivenza / Olivença to Portuguese authority ".

Spain interprets Article 105 as not being mandatory on demanding Spain to return Olivenza / Olivença to Portugal, thus not revoking the Treaty of Badajoz.

Turkey also renounced all claims on the Dodecanese Islands, which Italy was obliged to return to Turkey according to Article 2 of the Treaty of Ouchy in 1912-also known as the First Treaty of Lausanne ( 1912 ), as it was signed at the Ouchy Castle in Lausanne, Switzerland-following the Italo-Turkish War ( 1911 – 1912 ).

The treaty delimited the boundaries of Greece, Bulgaria, and Turkey ; formally ceded all Turkish claims on the Dodecanese Islands ( Article 15 ); Cyprus ( Article 20 ); Egypt and Sudan ( Article 17 ); Syria and Iraq ( Article 3 ); and ( along with the Treaty of Ankara ) settled the boundaries of the latter two nations.
