At a construction cost of HK $ 2. 35 billion, AsiaWorld-Expo offers over 70, 000 square metres of rentable space with 10 ground-level and column-free halls, including the AsiaWorld-Arena – the biggest purpose-built indoor seated entertainment arena in Hong Kong with a maximum capacity of 14, 000 ; the AsiaWorld-Summit – Hong Kong's largest indoor conference and banquet venue that seats 700 to 5, 000 persons ; the Runway 11 – the venue's latest conference and function hall for 500 to 3, 800 guests.

It includes AsiaWorld-Expo, a convention and exhibition centre, which opened in 2005.

It links the principal urban areas of Hong Kong to Hong Kong International Airport and the associated AsiaWorld-Expo exhibition and convention centre.

It was revealed on February 13, 2006 that Reed has chosen AsiaWorld-Expo at Hong Kong International Airport island, Lantau Island, Hong Kong as the new site, with the first relocated show to be held in 2007 to avoid clashing with the Singapore Airshow the following year.

To better serve the travelling needs of exhibitors and visitors, the Airport Express Line has been extended with a new station at the AsiaWorld-Expo.

With the opening of AsiaWorld-Expo, Airport Express was extended to AsiaWorld-Expo Station on 20 December 2005.

X routes serve AsiaWorld-Expo.

The station was opened in July 1998 at the same time as the airport, and served as the western terminus station of the line until the opening of the AsiaWorld-Expo station on 20 December 2005.

X11 and X22 are operated sometimes while A21, from Hung Hom to AsiaWorld-Expo, operates everyday.
