He has made 16 transcriptions of works by François Couperin, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Georg Philipp Telemann, and J. S. At ten years of age, Saint-Saëns gave his debut public recital at the Salle Pleyel, with a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 15 in B-flat major ( K. 450 ), and various pieces by Handel, Kalkbrenner, Hummel, and Bach.

At one of the orchestra's early concerts, in November 1932, the sixteen-year old Yehudi Menuhin played a programme of violin concertos ; those by Bach and Mozart were conducted by Beecham, and Elgar's Concerto in B minor was conducted by the composer.

In a running gag in Concerto for Horn and Hardart and in the introduction to Six Contrary Dances on his Music for an Awful Lot of Winds and Percussion album, Schickele inferred from fictional evidence that P. D. Q. Bach had a hollow leg that was considerably longer than the other one.

During the Initial Plunge, P. D. Q. Bach wrote the Traumarai for solo piano, an Echo Sonata for " two unfriendly groups of instruments ", and a Gross Concerto for Divers Flutes, two Trumpets, and Strings.
