Under the guidance of Edward West, Vice-President of Warner Bros. Records Inc in 1973 and its executives, A & R managers and staff producers, including Mo Ostin, Stan Cornyn, Lenny Waronker, Andy Wickham, Russ Titelman and ex-Warner Bros. recording artist ( with Harpers Bizarre ) Ted Templeman, sales grew streadily throughout the 1970s and by the end of the decade it had become one of the world's leading rock labels, with a star-studded roster that included Curved Air, Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor, Van Morrison, America, Alice Cooper, Van Halen, The Doobie Brothers, Little Feat, Bonnie Raitt, Seals & Crofts, Labelle and Rickie Lee Jones.

Still in the same year, two other experienced DJs joined Bizarre Inc, thus forming a new trio: Andrew Meecham and Carl Turner.

In 1993 Bizarre Inc twice went to number one on the United States Hot Dance Club Play chart.

There were also a very limited number of specialist fetish magazines which featured images of bondage, such as the famous Bizarre magazine published from 1946 to 1959 by the pioneering fetish photographer John Willie, and ENEG's Exotique magazine, published 1956-1959.

Also during this period, Parks ' compositions, such as the hit " High Coin " for Harpers Bizarre, were becoming known for their lyrical wordplay and sharp imagery.

Among them were the scripts for Drôle de drame ( Bizarre, Bizarre, 1937 ), Quai des brumes ( Port of Shadows, 1938 ), Le Jour se lève ( Daybreak, 1939 ), Les Visiteurs du soir ( The Night Visitors, 1942 ) and Children of Paradise ( Les Enfants du Paradis, 1945 ).

In April 2011, it was announced that Nisio Isin, Kouhei Kadono and Ōtarō Maijō were each writing novel adaptations of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure in celebration of the series ' 25th anniversary.

Characters from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure were also featured in the 2005 Nintendo DS Weekly Shōnen Jump crossover game Jump Super Stars and its sequel Jump Ultimate Stars, including Jotaro Kujo and Dio Brando as playable characters.

They wore insect-themed outfits with antennae and wings which allowed them to fly, though, on occasion they were shown flying on surfboards, and were constantly beset by the evil machinations of Benita Bizarre, played by comedienne Martha Raye, who, being untalented and ugly herself, was covetous of the Bugaloos ' musical prowess.

Though peace-loving and hippie-like, The Bugaloos were pursued by an ugly, evil, jealous old crone named Benita Bizarre ( Martha Raye ) who lived in a gigantic jukebox, and used it to broadcast her own brand of blaring, obnoxious, unpleasant " music.

However, this move proved disastrous when records by such acts as Bizarre of D12, Ray J and De La Soul were delayed, and the main company headed towards collapse.

However, starting in 1960, Burtman ( under the Selbee Associates imprint ) would go on to publish many more fetish magazines that were nearly identical to Exotique such as New Exotique, Masque, Connoisseur, Bizarre Life, High Heels, Unique World, Corporal ( a pioneering spanking-fetish magazine ) and others well into the 1970s.

" Among the acts reportedly cut were the Velvet Underground and Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, though by 1969, Zappa had fulfilled his MGM / Verve contract and moved to his own Bizarre Records label, distributed by Warner Bros.

The comic books deemed obscene were Omaha the Cat Dancer, The Bodyssey, Weirdo, and Bizarre Sex.

They were best known for their 1996 hit " How Bizarre ", named one of the greatest New Zealand songs of all time by the Australasian Performing Right Association.

Waronker had been hired as a freelance producer for some of Autumn's acts including The Tikis ( who later became Harpers Bizarre ), The Beau Brummels and The Mojo Men and for these recording sessions he brought in several musician friends who were then becoming established on the L. A. music scene — pianists Randy Newman ( a childhood friend ), Leon Russell and Van Dyke Parks.

The first albums associated with Bizarre were released in early 1968.

These albums were all released by Verve Records under the " Bizarre Productions " imprint.

When the Bizarre and Straight labels were created, Zappa's intention was to release albums by avant-garde artists on Bizarre, and recordings by more mainstream artists on Straight.

Zappa and the Mothers of Invention were the only artists who stayed with Bizarre Records.

Many Bizarre and Straight recordings were re-issued by Warner and or Reprise.

The Zappa / Mothers titles on Bizarre were available on Reprise until 1981 and are currently available on CD from Rykodisc.

Straight and Bizarre were manufactured and distributed in the U. S. by the Warner Bros. Records family of labels, which also included Reprise Records.

Starting in 1972 this and other Straight recordings were re-issued by either Reprise or Warner Bros. By 1973 the Bizarre and Straight distribution agreement with Warner ended.

For example, they were a regular topic in the 1950s John Willie fetish magazine, Bizarre.

The entire video is in black-and-white, apart from some cutaway sequences, including Bizarre living in a run-down house, Eminem as an angry old man, a cut scene where Eminem is at his old house and when Proof is with the chicks.

In the mid-1970s, North Carolina teenager Sam Irvin published the horror / science-fiction fanzine Bizarre which included his original interviews with UK actors and filmmakers ; Irvin would later become a producer-director in his own right.

From August to December 1971, Waits made a series of demo recordings for Cohen's Bizarre / Straight label, including many songs for which he would later become known.

Mind Bomb is the 4th album by The The, released by Some Bizarre / Epic on July 11, 1989 and recorded between October 1988 and May 1989.

In 1991 Bizarre / Straight released Homeland.

Romeo Nightingale from the German synthpop / glam rock band Cinema Bizarre also sports a keytar.

Throughout the 1970s Warner Bros. also benefited from its US / Canada distribution deals with independent labels such as Straight Records, DiscReet Records, UK labels Chrysalis ( 1972 – 1976 ) and Island ( 1974 – 1982 ), Bizarre Records, Bearsville Records ( 1970 – 1984 ) and Geffen Records ( which was sold to MCA in 1990 ).

Bizarre Records was a record label formed for artists discovered by rock musician Frank Zappa and his business partner / manager Herb Cohen.

He has contributed to publications such as Headpress as well as Panik, Electric Sheep, The Wire, Fortean Times and Bizarre magazine, as well as academic journals such as Senses of Cinema and M / C.

After augmenting the lineup with bassist Gregory Page and drummer Jeff Aafedt, the group signed a contract with Bizarre / Planet Records in 1993 ( a label associated with Herb Cohen, who had earlier managed Tom Waits and Frank Zappa ).

In 1998 they secured a deal with Blackbird / Atlantic and re-released " Bizarre Gardening Accident " as a self-titled album in 1999.
