On 15 March 44 BC, Octavius's adoptive father Julius Caesar was assassinated by a conspiracy led by Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus.

After seemingly destroying all his enemies and bringing peace to Rome he was assassinated by friends in a conspiracy organized by Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus.

Upon the death of Deiotarus, the Kingdom of Galatia was given to Amyntas, an auxiliary commander in the Roman army of Brutus and Cassius who gained the favor of Mark Antony.

* 44 BC – Julius Caesar, Dictator of the Roman Republic, is stabbed to death by Marcus Junius Brutus, Gaius Cassius Longinus, Decimus Junius Brutus and several other Roman senators on the Ides of March.

Casca, Marcus Junius Brutus and Cassius decided, in the night before the Assassination of Julius Caesar, that Mark Antony should stay alive.

Brutus and Cassius were reluctant at first, but Brutus decided it would be harmless, Cassius disagreed.

When they knew that Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius were assembling an army in order to march on Rome, Antony, Octavian and Lepidus allied in November 43 BC, forming the Second Triumvirate to stop Caesar's assassins.

The Parthian Empire had supported Brutus and Cassius in the civil war, sending forces which fought with them at Philippi ; following Antony and Octavian's victory, the Parthians invaded Roman territory, occupying Syria, advancing into Asia Minor and installing Antigonus as puppet king in Judaea to replace the pro-Roman Hyrcanus.

His heirs Mark Antony and Octavian confronted the assassins of Caesar, Marcus Junius Brutus and Cassius, at the Battle of Philippi in the plain to the west of the city during October in 42 BC.

His treachery is considered so notorious that his name has long been synonymous with traitor, a fate he shares with Benedict Arnold, Marcus Junius Brutus ( who too is depicted in Dante's Inferno, suffering the same fate as Judas along with Cassius Longinus ), and Vidkun Quisling.

* March 15 ( the Ides of March ) – Julius Caesar, dictator of Rome, is assassinated by a group of Roman senators, amongst them Gaius Cassius Longinus, Marcus Junius Brutus, and Caesar's Massilian naval commander, Decimus Brutus.

Their armies, which together totaled about 19 legions, marched to meet Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus.

The first was fought on October 3, 42 BC, in which Brutus defeated Octavian's forces, although Cassius was defeated by Antonius ' forces.

Caesar was stabbed ( 23 times ) to death in the Roman Senate by a group of conspirators led by Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus.

Four men, led by Lucius Junius Brutus, and including also Lucius Tarquinius Collatinus, Publius Valerius Poplicola, and Spurius Lucretius Tricipitinus incited a revolution, and as a result Tarquinius and his family were deposed and expelled from Rome in 509 B. C.

During the episode " The Ides of March ", at the end of season 4, Xena and Gabrielle were crucified by the Romans, as Caesar is betrayed and killed by Brutus.

Marcus Tullius Cicero, angry at Octavian, wrote a letter to Brutus explaining that the forces of Octavian and Marcus Antonius were divided.

Brutus was cremated, and his ashes were sent to his mother, Servilia Caepionis.

While many other pieces representing both sides of the constitutional debate were written under Roman names, Albert Furtwangler contends that "' Publius ' was a cut above ' Caesar ' or ' Brutus ' or even ' Cato.

Shakespeare's audience similarly did not ask whether the University of Wittenberg had existed in Hamlet's day, or whether clocks that struck time were available in Julius Caesar's ancient Rome: Shakespeare portrayed Brutus, plotting to assassinate Caesar in 44 BC, being interrupted by the striking of the clock, although ancient Rome was the era of the sundial, with invention of the mechanical clock dating from the 11th-13th centuries AD.

The first occurred on the first week of October ; Brutus faced Octavian, while Antony's forces were up against those of Cassius.

The Liberators ' army had seventeen legions ( eight with Brutus and nine with Cassius, while the other two legions were with the fleet ).

This surprise assault had complete success: Octavian ’ s troops were put to flight and pursued up to their camp, which was captured by Brutus ’ s men, led by Marcus Valerius Messalla Corvinus.

According to the legendary Historia Regum Britanniae, of Geoffrey of Monmouth, London was founded by Brutus of Troy after he defeated the incumbent giants Gog and Magog and was known as, ( Latin for New Troy ), which, according to a pseudo-etymology, was corrupted to Trinovantum.

* Gaius Antonius is defeated by Marcus Junius Brutus at Dyrrachium, Brutus proceeds to secure his position in Thrace and Macedonia.

* April 14 – Battle of Forum Gallorum: Mark Antony, besieging Caesar's assassin Decimus Brutus in Mutina, defeats the forces of the consul Pansa, but is then immediately defeated by the army of the other consul, Hirtius.

** Antony is again defeated in the Battle of Mutina by a coalition of Octavian, Decimus Brutus, and the two consuls of the year.

** September – Brutus defeats the combined Pompeian-Massilian naval forces in the naval Battle of Massilia, while the Caesarian fleet in the Adriatic is defeated near Curicta ( Krk ).

Knowing his army had been defeated and that he would be captured, Brutus committed suicide.

* October 23 – Second Battle of Philippi: Brutus ' army is defeated by Antony and Octavian, the Triumvirs smash through the weakened Republican centre and take Brutus's right wing in its flank.

But to the south, Cassius was defeated by Antony, and committed suicide after hearing a false report that Brutus had also failed.

DiBiase then defeated Brutus Beefcake, Ken Patera, Ron Bass, and Randy Savage to win the 1988 King of the Ring tournament, receiving his first WWF success.

Legend has it that the two giants were defeated by Brutus and chained to the gates of his palace on the site of Guildhall.

On June 21, 2009, at Slammiversary, Beer Money, Inc. defeated Team 3D to become three-time TNA World Tag Team Champions after outside interference from The British Invasion of Brutus Magnus, Doug Williams and Rob Terry.

Britain, then called Albion after its founder, was inhabited by his Giant descendants until about 1100 years before Julius Cæsar's invasion of Britain, when Brutus of Troy came and defeated the small number of Giants that remained ( as a group of the Giants had killed all the others ).

Morgan and Hernandez defeated Dr. Stevie and Raven to become the number one contenders to the TNA World Tag Team Champions British Invasion ( Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams ) at Genesis.

The undercard featured a WWF Tag Team Championship match where British Bulldogs ( Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid ) defeated champions Dream Team ( Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake ) to win the titles, a WWF Women's Championship match between The Fabulous Moolah and Velvet McIntyre and a flag match between Corporal Kirchner and Nikolai Volkoff.

On the October 4, 1986 edition of Saturday Night's Main Event, they defeated former champions Dream Team ( Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake ) in a two out of three falls match to retain the titles.
