CFB Esquimalt contains several recognized and classified federal heritage buildings on the Register of the Government of Canada Heritage Buildings.

LFWA comprises three Reserve Force Brigade Groups, one Regular Force Mechanized Brigade Group, one Area Support Group, Western Area Training Centre and CFB Suffield.
The formation comprises a HQ in Ottawa, ON, and four subordinate units: 1 Military Police Regiment ( MP Regt ) with HQ located in at CFB Edmonton, 2 MP Regt with HQ located in Toronto, ON, 3 MP Regt with HQ in Sackville, NS and 5 MP Regt with HQ at CFB Valcartier.

Major military facilities supported by CFB Kingston include Fort Frontenac, located on the site of the original fort, and the Royal Military College of Canada.
Thereafter, all of the base's airfield facilities were either demolished or sold, and CFB North Bay became the only air base in Canada not to have any military flying whatsoever.
As well as loss of the airfield following the departure of 414 Squadron, during the mid to late 1990s the federal government embarked on the wholesale demolition of CFB North Bay's non-airfield facilities, and implemented massive reductions of base civilian and military personnel.
