Cabourg is a commune in the Calvados department in the Basse-Normandie region of France.

Cabourg is famous for being Marcel Proust's favorite vacation place at the beginning of the 20th century ; it is the original of Balbec, the seaside resort in Proust's Remembrance of Things Past.

Merville-Franceville-Plage, more usually called Franceville, is situated on the Côte Fleurie, 6 km from Cabourg and from Caen.
