Canal + brought a lawsuit against News Corporation alleging that they, with the help of NDS, had been working on breaking the MediaGuard smartcards used by Canal +, ITV Digital and other non-Murdoch-owned TV companies throughout Europe.

The TV distribution is branded Canal Digital.

Channel is broadcast by Canal Digital in satellite, terrestrially by DNA widely in southern Finland but also in other parts of the country.

In addition the free-to-air broadcasts, two companies are providing encryption cards for pay television: Canal Digital and PlusTV.

Canal Digital was the first to launch, originally only offering four Canal + channels ( the Disney Channel was added later on ).

Both packages got more channels with the launch of MUX E in September 2007: SVT Europa and MTV3 Fakta was added to PlusTV and KinoTV was added to Canal Digital, while Discovery Channel, Eurosport, MTV Finland and Nickelodeon were added to both packages.

After that service merged with Canal Digital which started late 1997.

Canal Digital launched some HDTV channels, like Discovery HD, on their digital paytv-package during 2006.

It is broadcast on Nick Jr. in the subscription of Canal Digital and Viasat.

It was also launched, ( February 3, 2009 ) in Norway for Canal Digital.

The company has now been merged with Telenor's cable and satellite television subsidiary Canal Digital.

However, in April 2005, TV4 Plus, TV4 Film and TV400 were launched on Viasat ( the TV4 Group channel had to wait until 2006 due to contracts with the Canal Digital platform ).

As of 2005, TV4 is transmitted free-to-air on the digital terrestrial network while TV4 Plus, TV4 Film, TV400 and TV4 Fakta require subscription from Boxer, Canal Digital or Viasat via satellite, or cable TV from several cable networks, including Tele2Vision, Com Hem and Canal Digital.

The main pay television distributors are: Com Hem ( cable ), Boxer ( terrestrial ), Viasat ( satellite ) and Canal Digital ( satellite ).

Viasat ’ s main competitor on Direct Broadcast Satellite distribution in the Nordic countries is Canal Digital.

Canal + then passed to form part only in Digital + on 7 November 2005.

The total operation was a construction project comparable in magnitude with the Panama Canal, but in 1917 time was in short supply ; ;

There, in one of the major Swiss engineering feats of the 19th century, the Jura water correction, the river, which had previously rendered the countryside north of Bern a swampland through frequent flooding, was diverted by the Hagneck Canal into Lake of Bienne.

West of Broadway as far as Canal Street was the city's fashionable residential area until circa 1825 ; landfill has more than tripled the area and the Hudson shore now lies far to the west, beyond TriBeCa and Battery Park City.

Another change was made on November 10, 1963, when Broadway became one-way southbound from Herald Square to Madison Square ( 23rd Street ) and Union Square ( 14th Street ) to Canal Street, and two routes — Sixth Avenue south of Herald Square and Centre Street, Lafayette Street, and Fourth Avenue south of Union Square — became one-way northbound.

However, the Canal du Midi was built using concrete in 1670, and there are concrete structures in Finland that date from the 16th century.

This was compounded by transportation problems-the coffee-growing areas were mainly on the Central Valley and only had access to the port in Puntarenas on the Pacific Coast, and before the Panama Canal was opened, ships from Europe had to sail around Cape Horn in order to get to the Pacific Coast.

By far the longest canal was the Grand Canal of China, still the longest canal in the world today, and the oldest extant one.

Canal building was revived in this age because of commercial expansion from the 12th century.

To break out of the limitations caused by river valleys, the first summit level canals were developed with the Grand Canal of China in 581 – 617 AD whilst in Europe the first, also using single locks, was the Stecknitz Canal in Germany in 1398.

The first to use pound locks was the Briare Canal connecting the Loire and Seine ( 1642 ), followed by the more ambitious Canal du Midi ( 1683 ) connecting the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.

As well as industrial uses, the Royal Military Canal on the Romney Marsh was built so as create a barrier against invading troops, and hiding places for British troops during the Napoleonic Wars.

The Erie Canal ( opened 1825 ) was chartered and owned by the state of New York and financed by bonds bought by private investors.

Assured of a market for their farm products the settlement of the U. S. mid-west was greatly accelerated by the Erie Canal.

The Erie Canal ( as well as other canals ) was instrumental in lowering the differences in commodity prices between these various markets across America.

The Rideau Canal was built as a result of the War of 1812 to provide military transportation between the British colonies of Upper Canada and Lower Canada as an alternative to part of the St. Lawrence River, which was susceptible to blockade by the United States.

Many notable sea canals were completed in this period, starting with the Suez Canal ( 1869 )-which carries tonnage many times that of most other canals-and the Kiel Canal ( 1897 ), though the Panama Canal was not opened until 1914.

Cape Breton Island is joined to the mainland by the Canso Causeway, which was completed in 1955, enabling direct road and rail traffic to and from the island, but requiring marine traffic to pass through the Canso Canal at the eastern end of the causeway.

Domestically, the Grand Canal was expanded and proved to be a stimulus to domestic trade.

The Erie Canal with its easy connections to most of the U. S. mid-west and New York City soon quickly paid back all its invested capital ( USD $ 7 million ) and started turning a profit.

The profits generated by the Erie Canal project started a canal building boom in the United States that lasted till about 1850 when railroads started becoming seriously competitive in price and convience.

The Suez Canal Company ( Compagnie Universelle du Canal Maritime de Suez ) came into being on 15 December 1858 and work started on the shore of the future Port Said on 25 April 1859.

July 4: Erie Canal started.

Other works by Telford include the St Katharine Docks ( 1824 – 1828 ) close to Tower Bridge in central London, where he worked with the architect Philip Hardwick, the Gloucester and Berkeley Ship Canal ( today known as the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal ), Over Bridge near Gloucester, the second Harecastle Tunnel on the Trent and Mersey Canal ( 1827 ), and the Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal ( today part of the Shropshire Union Canal ) — started in May 1826 but finished, after Telford's death, in January 1835.

He also started many expensive construction projects such as the Grand Canal of China, and became embroiled in several costly wars.

It started with the construction of the Wilts and Berks Canal in 1810 and the North Wilts Canal in 1819.

The runners started at a lane on the edge of the racecourse and raced away from the course out over open countryside towards the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Some stores did open around the town square, however, and warehouses started to appear adjacent to the town's three major river landings, Upper Landing, above the modern Demopolis Yacht Basin and Marina, Webb's Landing at the western terminus of Washington Street, and Lower Landing to the west of Riverside Cemetery and the Whitfield Canal.

A mayor, six councilmen, an assessor and a collector were elected to govern this new borough which had started life as an ore shipping port on the Morris Canal.

When work started on the Miami-Erie Canal in 1836, German immigration began in earnest.

In 1833 the Juniata Division of the Pennsylvania Canal was opened, the promise of better transportation started a mini housing boom in Alexandria.

His early projects included the Lancaster Canal ( started 1792 ), the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation ( 1793 ), the Crinan Canal ( 1794 ), Rudyard Lake ( 1797 ) and the Dundas Aqueduct on the Kennet and Avon Canal ( 1800 ).
