Fort Wagner ( also called Battery Wagner ) was a beachhead fortification on Morris Island, South Carolina, that covered the southern approach to Charleston harbor.

When the A-League became the USL First Division in 2005, the league comprised 12 teams: Atlanta Silverbacks, Charleston Battery, Minnesota Thunder, Montreal Impact, Portland Timbers, Puerto Rico Islanders, Richmond Kickers, Rochester Raging Rhinos, Seattle Sounders, Toronto Lynx, Vancouver Whitecaps and Virginia Beach Mariners.

On June 23, 1952, the team moved to Charleston, West Virginia, that state's capital city, and became the Senators.

The rhythm was popularized in mainstream dance music in the United States by a 1923 tune called " The Charleston " by composer / pianist James P. Johnson which originated in the Broadway show Runnin ' Wild and became one of the most popular hits of the decade.

Developed by Kathryn Wilson, the Charleston became a popular dance craze in the wider international community during the 1920s.

In 1855, he moved to Tishomingo County, Mississippi, and became a station agent at Iuka when the Memphis and Charleston Railroad opened.

In October 2008, 91 pages of memos drafted in 2002 by officers at the Naval Consolidated Brig, Charleston became public.
