In May 2010 the General Chiropractic Council, the statutory regulatory body for chiropractors in the United Kingdom, issued guidance for chiropractors stating that the chiropractic vertebral subluxation complex " is an historical concept " and " is not supported by any clinical research evidence that would allow claims to be made that it is the cause of disease or health concerns.

In 2008, Singh was unsuccessfully sued for libel by the British Chiropractic Association for criticising their activities in a column in The Guardian.

In 19 April 2008, The Guardian published Singh's column " Beware the Spinal Trap ", an article that was critical of the practice of chiropractic and which resulted in Singh being sued for libel by the British Chiropractic Association ( BCA ).

A recent example is the case of Simon Singh's lawsuit, where author and journalist Simon Singh was sued by the British Chiropractic Association for criticism of chiropractic therapy which rested on a summary of recent scientific research.

The university validates courses in chiropractic for the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, an associate college of Bournemouth University.

In June 2006, the American Chiropractic Association filed a national class action lawsuit against the American Chiropractic Network ( ACN ), which is owned by UnitedHealth Group and administers chiropractic benefits, and against UnitedHealth Group itself, for alleged practices in violation of the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act ( RICO ).

The American Chiropractic Association and the International Chiropractic Association support individual exemptions to compulsory vaccination laws ; a 1995 survey of US chiropractors found that about one third believed there was no scientific proof that immunization prevents disease.

A survey of a 1999 – 2000 cross section of students of Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, which does not formally teach antivaccination views, reported that fourth-year students opposed vaccination more strongly than first-years, with 29. 4 % of fourth-years opposing vaccination.
