The first act focused on Christian's journey, the second on that of Christiana, and their teenage son Matthew.

Christian's positive behavior toward his children was overshadowed by his morbid pietism.

He became the first truly autocratic native Swedish sovereign and was a skilled propagandist and bureaucrat, with his main opponent, Christian's, infamous mark as the " tyrant king " and his alleged adventures during the liberation struggle still widespread to date.

A reason for this gentle treatment was King Christian's hope to convince the six men to switch sides, and turn against their leader Sten Sture.

: " Gideon Morris was listed as one of the signers ( sic ) of the petition to annex Watauga to North Carolina in 1775, and in the Fall of the same year he served in Colonel Christian's expedition against the Indians.

His father was a poor weaver who had left Silesia and moved to Saxony to maintain his Protestant faith ; Christian's education was paid for by his godfather.

He was buried in the crypt of the Christian's Church, in the Copenhagen borough of Christianshavn.

Christian's final attempt at regaining Sweden ended in a total military failure at Brunkeberg ( outside Stockholm ) October 1471 where he was defeated by the Swedish regent Sten Sture the Elder who was supported by the Danish-Swedish nobleman's clan the Thott family.

Christian's succession was confirmed by the Estates of the Realm ( nobility and representatives ) of these duchies in Ribe 5 March 1460 ( Treaty of Ribe ).

Christian's personal territory was at its largest in 1460 – 64, before the loss of Sweden.

Consequently, upon King Christian's death in May 1481, John's position was unchallenged in Denmark, whereas in Norway the Council of the Realm assumed royal authority, and an interregnum ensued.

The name was written " Christian ( s ) sand " ( for " Christians sand " – meaning en: " Christian's Sand ") until 1877 – then, according to an official spelling reform ( that changed ch to k ), the form was changed to " Kristianssand ".

* November 7 – At the end of the third day of Christian's coronation feast, several leading figures of the Swedish resistance against the Danish invasion are imprisoned and tried for high treason.

Christian's Protestant policies led Denmark toward the establishment of the Danish Lutheran Church as the national church of Denmark ( Folkekirke ).

Part of Christian's appeal to the common people may be explained by the fact that he allowed Danish commoners into state service, but his attempts to curtail the influence of the nobility also meant continuing his father's drive toward absolutism.

What was different compared with ancestries of their rival relatives, was Christian's specific ancestry among current Danish high nobility.

Christian's parents had high hopes that in the then-rising era of nationalism, this ancestry would be viewed with favor by necessary supporters when Danish succession comes to be solved.

The family groomed Christian's elder brother Frederick to become king of Denmark, however, the Danish succession crisis was resolved in favor of others.

The marriage greatly strengthed Christian's efforts to secure the Danish throne, since it joined two competing claimants whose children would have an enhanced connection to the ancient bloodlines of the Danish monarchy.

From the House of the Interpreter, Christian finally reaches the " place of deliverance " ( allegorically, the cross of Calvary and the open sepulcher of Christ ), where the " straps " that bound Christian's burden to him break, and it rolls away into the open sepulchre.

Instead, the Eastern Church has emphasized the role of the Holy Spirit in the Christian's life and has maintained ascetic disciplines such as fasting and prayer ( the minimum fast obligatory on Orthodox faithful is two days weekly ), not as a way to make satisfaction for past sins or to build up merit, but as a means of spiritual discipline to help reduce one's susceptibility to temptation in the future to exercise self control, and to avoid being enslaved to one's passions and desires.

The ritual as interpreted in light of such ideas does not at all bring about salvation, nor does its performance bring about the forgiveness of sins ; the forgiveness which the believer has received by faith is merely pictured, not effectively applied, by baptism ; salvation and participation in Christ is memorialized (' this do in remembrance of me ' in the Lord's Supper and baptism picturing a Christian's rebirth as death to sin and alive in Christ ), not imparted, by the Eucharist.

She followed her mother's example in working for various charitable organizations, most notably the Young Men's Christian Association ( YMCA ), Young Women's Christian Association ( YWCA ) and Princess Christian's Nursing Home at Windsor.

He was a nephew of Nicolai Mejdell ( 1822 – 1899 ) and Thorvald Mejdell ( 1824 – 1908 ), and through the former a first cousin of Glør Thorvald Mejdell, who married Christian's sister Thora Cathrine Sinding.
