Churchward's writings are a key influence for the plot of the anime series RahXephon.

Soon afterwards, these were followed by designs by John G. Robinson of the Great Central Railway ( GCR Class 8 ) of 1902, and in 1903 by Francis Webb of the London and North Western Railway with his unsuccessful 4-cylinder compound locomotives of the 1400 ' Bill Bailey ' class, and George Jackson Churchward's GWR 2900 (" Saint ") Class which was the first in a long line of mixed traffic 4-6-0 classes operated by the Great Western Railway, and the 105 locomotives of the LNWR Whale Experiment Class, built 1905-1910.

On one occasion, the GWR's directors confronted Churchward, and demanded to know why the London and North Western Railway were able to build three 4-6-0 locomotives for the price of two of Churchward's " Stars ".

Churchward's standardisation aims meant that a number of tank locomotives were produced that were based on these tender locomotives.

They were designed as a part of Churchward's standardisation plan, but were found to have a front end too powerful for the wheel arrangement and all were withdrawn by the early 1930s.

Its civilization, which flourished 50, 000 years before Churchward's day, was technologically more advanced than his own, and the ancient civilizations of India, Babylon, Persia, Egypt and the Mayas were merely the decayed remnants of its colonies.

The locomotives were given names from an extinct class of 4-4-0 tender locomotive that were part of George Jackson Churchward's locomotive standardisation programme in the early days of the 20th century:

The 1361 Class were designed by Harold Holcroft, the Great Western Railway's Chief Draughtsman, by adapting the 1392 Class, originally built in 1874 for the Cornwall Minerals Railway, to conform to George Jackson Churchward's standardisation policy ( Churchward was the Chief Mechanical Engineer ).
