Marcus Aurelius was son of Trajan's great-grandnephew ( and consequently grandson of the half-sister of Hadrian's wife ), and subsequently married Antoninus Pius's daughter Annia Galeria Faustina, and Lucius Verus was son of Lucius Ceionius Commodus, who had been Hadrian's first choice as Caesar and Emperor-designate.
