Cream ( band ) | Cream, one of the psychedelic influenced bands of the British blues movement, c. 1966

The band was named " Cream ", as Clapton, Bruce, and Baker were already considered the " cream of the crop " amongst blues and jazz musicians in the exploding British music scene.

Before deciding upon " Cream ", the band considered calling themselves " Sweet ' n ' Sour Rock ' n ' Roll ".

The early Cream bootlegs display a much tighter band showcasing more songs.

Blind Faith was formed immediately after the demise of Cream, following an attempt by Clapton to recruit Steve Winwood into the band in the hope that he would help act as a buffer between Bruce and Baker.

The band performed the opening song of the night, " Message in a Bottle ", supported by the brass band of the New York Metropolitan Police Corp. Later, they performed " Sunshine of Your Love " and " Purple Haze " as a tribute to the rock trios that preceded them ( the Cream and Jimi Hendrix Experience ).

Following the lead of Cream, they were one of the first groups to popularize the " power trio " format, which stripped a rock band line-up down to guitar, bass and drums.

Patterned after hard rock power trios such as Cream, the band, with Terry Knight's marketing savvy, developed its own popular style.

Baker gained fame as a member of the Graham Bond Organisation and then as a member of the rock band Cream from 1966 until they disbanded in 1968.

Referred to as one of the most important and influential guitarists of all time, Eric Clapton established himself as a major rock star with groups such as The Yardbirds, Cream ( band ) | Cream, and Derek & the Dominoes, before embarking on a solo career in the 1970s.

The band toured to promote the new album with Stratovarius and Pink Cream 69 as their guests.
