In poetry T. S. Eliot, E. E. Cummings, and Wallace Stevens were writing from the 1920s until the 1950s.

American poetry arguably reached its peak in the early-to-mid-20th century, with such noted writers as Wallace Stevens and his Harmonium ( 1923 ) and The Auroras of Autumn ( 1950 ), T. S. Eliot and his The Waste Land ( 1922 ), Robert Frost and his North of Boston ( 1914 ) and New Hampshire ( 1923 ), Hart Crane and his White Buildings ( 1926 ) and the epic cycle, The Bridge ( 1930 ), Ezra Pound, William Carlos Williams and his epic poem about his New Jersey hometown, Paterson, Marianne Moore, E. E. Cummings, Edna St. Vincent Millay and Langston Hughes, in addition to many others.

His own poetry at this stage was influenced by W. B. Yeats, Wallace Stevens, and E. E. Cummings.

Bassist Jim Kale played one show and former Guess Who sidemen Donnie McDougall and Bill Wallace re-joined the line-up through the remainder of the tour in Canada and later in the U. S. The reformed The Guess Who toured with Cummings from 2000 through to the summer of 2003.

Of the 33 players who finished ahead of him in the voting, 24 have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, and several players who finished behind Lowe in the voting ( including Bobby Wallace, Jesse Burkett, Jake Beckley, Tommy McCarthy, Tim Keefe and Candy Cummings ) have also been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The first publication of the new press, in 1936, was " New Directions in Prose & Poetry ," an anthology of poetry and writings by authors such as William Carlos Williams, Ezra Pound, Elizabeth Bishop, Henry Miller, Marianne Moore, Wallace Stevens, and E. E. Cummings, a roster that heralded the fledgling company's future as a preeminent publisher of modernist literature.

Although he was not a part of the 1983 Guess Who reunion that toured Canada, he was a part of the post-2000 reunion band that has done two cross-country tours ( with Cummings, Randy Bachman, Garry Peterson and Bill Wallace ).

Other figures on the board included Hopkins, Secretary of the Treasury Henry Morgenthau Jr., Attorney General Homer Cummings, and Secretary of Agriculture Henry A. Wallace.

Edwin Arlington Robinson, Wallace Stevens, E. E. Cummings, and T. S. Eliot all published their undergraduate poetry in the Advocate.

Winter became the main songwriting collaborator with Cummings and The Guess Who continued on scoring additional hit singles such as " Hand Me Down World ", " Share The Land ", " Hang On to Your Life ", " Albert Flasher ", and " Rain Dance ".

" In response to these accusations of anti-Semitism, composer and Oberlin College professor Conrad Cummings wrote a letter to the editor defending " Klinghoffer " as " the closest analogue to the experience of Bach's audience attending his most demanding works ," and noted that, as someone of half-Jewish heritage, he " found nothing anti-Semitic about the work.

W. H. Cummings composed the cantata The Fairy Ring, and William Butler Yeats wrote of them in The Land of Heart's Desire ( 1894 ).

Bill ( nicknamed Wee Willy by Burton Cummings ) wrote and co-wrote many Guess Who hits including " Clap for the Wolfman ", " Road Food ", " Follow Your Daughter Home ", and sang lead on " Bye Bye Babe ".

" Nader wrote the caucus chairman, Elijah Cummings, demanding an apology, but none was given.

The composer Robert Cummings writes, " While Robert Lucas Pearsall wrote instrumental and orchestral music, he is best known for his vocal works, particularly for his madrigals and part songs, which he composed as a means of reviving Renaissance-era styles.

Several former members of The Guess Who, notably Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman ( of Bachman – Turner Overdrive ), have also found considerable success outside the band.

Cummings, feeling more and more out of synch with the jazzier & progressive leanings of Troiano and the others, decided to pursue a solo direction and the Guess Who broke up in October 1975.

Kale was on tour in Kenora, Ontario, and contacted Cummings and Bachman about using the Guess Who name.

( See below for complete list of The Guess Who lineups ) In 1983, Bachman, Cummings, Jim Kale and Garry Peterson ( the " American Woman " line-up ) reunited as The Guess Who to play a series of Canadian gigs and record the Together Again live album and video.

After the reunion, Bachman and Cummings resumed their solo work, and Kale once again resumed touring with various musicians under The Guess Who banner.

The show was the largest outdoor ticketed event in Canadian history, and was Bachman and Cummings last involvement with The Guess Who.

Cummings was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as were all of the other original members of The Guess Who, and attended St. John's High School.

In 1969 The Guess Who scored an international hit with " These Eyes ", co-written by Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman.

Another Guess Who song, " Undun ", featured Cummings on a jazzy flute solo.

In 1975 Cummings left The Guess Who after 10 years to become a solo artist, and the group disbanded.

In 2000 Cummings, Bachman, and original drummer Garry Peterson toured as The Guess Who.

In 2001 Cummings and the rest of The Guess Who received honorary doctorates at Brandon University in Brandon, Manitoba.

The Bachman-Cummings Band have released a compilation album titled the Bachman-Cummings Song Book featuring songs from The Guess Who, Bachman – Turner Overdrive and Cummings ' solo career.

The band was renamed the Guess Who in 1966, and with Chad Allen gone and new keyboardist Burton Cummings on vocals, they began to realize their full potential as rock superstars.

Burton Cummings, who had been lead singer of the Guess Who, had a successful solo career with softer hits including " Stand Tall ", " Scared ", and " Break it to Them Gently ".

In spite of the breakup of the Guess Who, several of Cummings ’ solo songs featured Bachman on guitar.

The title comes the last line of the poem " the Cambridge ladies who live in furnished souls " by E. E. Cummings, "... the / moon rattles like a fragment of angry candy.

The popular Bart Cummings trained mare Leilani was the favourite for the 1974 Melbourne Cup but she was run down in the last fifty metres by her stablemate Think Big under jockey Harry White.

During the period from 1914 to 1924, Cummings served as the state attorney for Connecticut in Fairfield County and during Cummings ' last year as county prosecutor, a vagrant and discharged army soldier, Harold Israel, was indicted for the murder of Father Hubert Dahme, a popular parish priest, on a street corner in Bridgeport .< ref > Despite evidence that included a confession and a. 32 revolver in possession of the suspect from which a fired cartridge was consistent with the bullet in the deceased, Cummings conducted a thorough investigation and eventually found Israel innocent of the crime.

The Herald Angels Sing has popularly been performed in an arrangement that maintains the basic original William H. Cummings harmonisation of the Mendelssohn tune for the first two verses but adds a soprano descant and a last verse harmonisation for the organ in verse 3 by Sir David Willcocks.

Cummings was very popular among his constituents and seldom faced any organized efforts to defeat him for reelection, and was honored by his peers during the last day of the 1972 session prior to his retirement.

He returned later in the year to outpoint Floyd " Jumbo " Cummings, who had drawn with Joe Frazier in Smokin Joe's last fight, and win the NABF title impressively with a first round knockout of James " Quick " Tillis.

Notable collaborations in the last three seasons have been with such internationally acclaimed figures in historical performance as violinist Fabio Biondi, oboist Alfredo Bernardini, conductor Laurence Cummings, director Rinaldo Alessandrini, harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani, soprano Elizabeth Watts, countertenor David Daniels, and director and recorder player Maurice Steger.

The marriage did not last long, however, as by 1919 Elaine was having an affair with Cummings, even giving birth to a daughter, Nancy, by Cummings in December of that year.
