The course is 3. 2 miles long and stretches from the start at Boston University's DeWolfe Boathouse near the Charles River Basin to the finish just after the Eliot Bridge and before Northeastern University's Henderson Boathouse.

It is situated along the north bank of the Charles River in Cambridge and consists of McKinlock Hall, constructed in 1925, two 12-story towers completed in 1960, and two floors of 20 DeWolfe Street, a building Leverett shares with two other houses at Harvard.

Florence Mabel Kling " Flossie " Harding ( previously DeWolfe ; August 15, 1860, Marion, Ohio – November 21, 1924 ), wife of President Warren G. Harding, was the First Lady of the United States from 1921 to 1923.

Marshall Eugene DeWolfe ( September 22, 1880 – January 1, 1915 ) was the only child of future First Lady Florence Kling and a man reputed to have been her first husband, Henry Athenton " Pete " DeWolfe ( 4 March 1859-8 March 1894 ).

Born in Galion, Crawford County, Ohio, young DeWolfe was primarily raised by his mother ; his father was a chronic alcoholic who was absent from the home for days at a time.

However divorce papers on file in Marion County Ohio do grant a divorce for Florence from Henry " Pete " DeWolfe, which suggests that a formal marriage did take place at some undocumented time.

DeWolfe studied journalism at the University of Michigan from 1899 to 1903.

After his graduation from Marion High School, DeWolfe was given a job at the Marion Daily Star.

On July 8, 1891, Harding married Florence Kling DeWolfe, the daughter of his nemesis ( and hers as well ), Amos Hall Kling.

Florence Kling DeWolfe was a divorcée, five years Harding's senior, and the mother of a young son, Marshall Eugene DeWolfe.

This band's lineup had Padavona on the bass guitar, along with singer Billy DeWolfe, guitarist Nick Pantas, drummer Tom Rogers, and saxophone player Jack Musci.

At this point, Padavona began singing, replacing DeWolfe.

The couple had two sons Herbert Chipman Tilley, born September 6, 1868, and Leonard Percy DeWolfe Tilley, born May 21, 1870.

However the sketch was also staged elsewhere, for example in 1953 in John Murray Anderson's Almanac ( the show that also featured Harry Belafonte in the early days of his career ) at Imperial Theatre with Hermione Gingold playing Miss Sophie, Billy DeWolfe as the butler, and apparently featuring four dead friends.

During the late 1960s, the band made some extra money by recording for music library company DeWolfe.

It starred Doris Day, Gordon MacRae, Eve Arden, and Billy DeWolfe.

In 1864 Boston publisher DeWolfe, Fiske, & Co. published Edmonds ' account of her military experiences as The Female Spy of the Union Army.

Pregnant at age 19, Florence eloped with Henry " Pete " Athenton DeWolfe, her childhood friend and neighbor, in 1880.

To date, scholastic researchers have been unable to locate official documentation or a legal marriage license for the couple, leading to the belief that DeWolfe and Harding were never civilly married, but instead declared common law marriage as allowed at the time in Ohio.

DeWolfe proved a spendthrift and a heavy drinker.

Shortly after the birth of their son Marshall Eugene DeWolfe ( also known as Marshall Eugene Kling ) in 1880, Florence left her husband and returned to Marion.

The cold climate in the winter season has not proved conducive to attracting viable numbers visitors to DeWolfe Point State Park outside the spring and summer months.

* 1776 – The Battle of Long Island: in what is now Brooklyn, New York, British forces under General William Howe defeat Americans under General George Washington.

The two latter reefs are much closer to Lord Howe Island, New South Wales ( about 150 km ) than to the southernmost island of the rest of the territory, Cato Island.

In August 1776, British General William Howe launched a massive naval and land campaign designed to seize New York.

General Howe in New York took his army south to Philadelphia instead of going up the Hudson River to join with Burgoyne near Albany.

It was a major strategic mistake for the British, and Washington rushed to Philadelphia to engage Howe, while closely following the action in upstate New York.

Meanwhile, Burgoyne, out of reach from help from Howe, was trapped and forced to surrender his entire army at Saratoga, New York.

The western pincer, under the command of Barry St. Leger, was repulsed when the Siege of Fort Stanwix failed, and the southern pincer, which was to progress up the Hudson valley from New York City, never started since General William Howe decided instead to capture Philadelphia.

In the spring of 1777, the British Commander-in-Chief, North America General William Howe, in New York City, ordered William Tryon to interrupt the flow of supplies from Connecticut that were reaching the Continental Army.

Control of the upper Hudson would enable the British to link their forces in Quebec with those in New York, recently captured in the New York campaign by Major General William Howe.

After leaving high school and playing the club circuit around the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania areas with his brother Albert ( a singer ) for most of the 1980s, Greg Howe officially began his solo career after sending a demo tape to Shrapnel Records in 1987, upon which he was immediately signed by founder Mike Varney.

In Peter Jackson's film version of The Two Towers, he was played by New Zealand actor Paris Howe Strewe.

In late July 1777, after a distressing 34-day journey from Sandy Hook on the coast of New Jersey, a Royal Navy fleet of more than 260 ships carrying some 17, 000 British troops under the command of British General Sir William Howe landed at the head of the Elk River, on the northern end of the Chesapeake Bay near present-day Elkton, Maryland ( then known as Head of Elk ), approximately 40 – 50 miles ( 60 – 80 km ) southwest of Philadelphia.
