In the late afternoon of July 2, Lee launched a heavy assault on the Union left flank, and fierce fighting raged at Little Round Top, the Wheatfield, Devil's Den, and the Peach Orchard.

Of those, one of the most well known was the Texas Brigade, made up of the 1st, 4th, and 5th Texas, and the 3rd Arkansas, which distinguished themselves in numerous battles, perhaps most notably during their fight for the Devil's Den at the Battle of Gettysburg.

The rural areas later became the Ozark National Forest and Devil's Den State Park.

Past the communities of Greenland and West Fork is Devil's Den State Park.

Winslow is west of Devil's Den State Park along Arkansas Highway 74.

Most of Devil's Den Preserve, a nature reserve, which gets 40, 000 visits a year, is located in the town.

Other minor communities and geographic areas are Devil's Den, Norfield, Upper Parish, and Valley Forge.

Devil's Den is a small cave east of Massabesic Lake.

Sawa continued steadily in recent years by appearing in several independent films including Extreme Dating, Shooting Gallery, Devil's Den, Creature Of Darkness, Endure, 388 Arletta Avenue, and The Sibling.

Hood was dissatisfied with his assignment in the assault because it would face difficult terrain in the boulder-strewn area known as the Devil's Den.

Previously built up along a stretch of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad tracks, the community is situated between two landmark rock formations: Hell's Gate and Devil's Den.

Birney's new position was from the Devil's Den, to the Wheatfield, to the Peach Orchard, part of a salient directly in the path of the Confederate assault, and it was too long a front for a single division to defend.

Meanwhile, the Confederate troops of Lt. Gen. James Longstreet's Corps had swept through the Devil's Den, driving the Union defenders back to Plum Run, a stream just to the west of Little Round Top, and an area that became known to the soldiers as " the Valley of Death ".

There, on July 2, 1863, Benning led his brigade in a furious assault against the Union position in the Devil's Den, driving out the defenders at no small cost to themselves.

During the Gettysburg Campaign, Ward's brigade was assigned on July 2 by Maj. Gen. Daniel Sickles to hold a large area from the Wheatfield Road to Devil's Den.

# " Hold at All Costs " ( 7: 06 ), based on the actions taken on the southern end of the battlefield on July 2, 1863, specifically in the areas of the Wheatfield, Devil's Den, and Little Round Top.

During the Battle of Gettysburg, it was part of the fighting on the Second Day, helping push back Confederate infantry near Devil's Den and the Wheatfield.

The first Starwood was held July 24 – 26, 1981 at Coopers Lake Campground, the same site as the Society for Creative Anachronism's Pennsic War, in Slippery Rock, PA. From 1982 through 1985 it was held at Devil's Den Park in New Philadelphia, OH, a former state park run by Whispering Winds Nudist Camp.

* 1992 Devil's Sinkhole State Natural Area near Rocksprings, home to the largest single-chambered cavern and third-deepest in the state, opens to the public.

This highway was replaced in 1937 by State Route 1, which followed the old railroad route through the Devil's Slide ; a tunnel is being built to replace this dangerous route, which has been closed periodically due to landslides.

There are several parks and other sites managed by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department near Florence, including Darlingtonia State Natural Site and Heceta Head Lighthouse at Devil's Elbow to the north, and Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park to the south.

Rocksprings Visitor Center arranges tours of the nearby Devil's Sinkhole State Natural Area.

Tourism has become a growing part of the economy with the opening of Devil's Sinkhole State Natural Area located approximately six miles northeast of Rocksprings.

Auyantepui (), also Auyantepuy, Auyan-Tepui, or Aiyan-Tepui, ( meaning " Devil's Mountain " in the Pemon language ) is a tepui plateau in the Gran Sabana region of Bolivar State, Venezuela.

In the United States, formations of quartzite can be found in some parts of Pennsylvania, eastern South Dakota, Central Texas, southwest Minnesota, Devil's Lake State Park in the Baraboo Hills in Wisconsin, the Wasatch Range in Utah, near Salt Lake City, Utah and as resistant ridges in the Appalachians and other mountain regions.

Devil's Hole State Park is located in Niagara County, New York north of the City of Niagara Falls.
