J. M. Dillard's novel The Lost Years describes Kirk's promotion to rear admiral and unfulfilling duties as a diplomatic troubleshooter after the Enterprises five-year mission.

Dillard's novel is notable for covering issues left untouched by the televised episode, such as explaining the rationale behind T ' Pol's change of uniform.

Before it was published, however, the TV series aired " The Seventh ", an episode with a similar core plot point, which forced last-minute revisions to Dillard's book.

On September 29, 1999, during his senior season at Florida State, Coles and teammate Peter Warrick went to a Tallahassee, Florida Dillard's department store and, with the aid of a cashier with whom they were friendly, purchased $ 412. 38 worth of clothing and were charged only $ 21. 40 — a discount so large that it is considered shoplifting under Florida law.

At that year's rivalry game at the University of Florida, Florida Gators fans brought Dillard's bags to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to mock the team.

In December 2009, the City of Jackson bought the former Dillard's property at the Metrocenter Mall as part of their plan to redevelop the US Highway 80 corridor.

According to the official Mr. Bingle website, merchandise featuring the character was available at 21 Dillard's locations in 10 states during the 2007 holiday shopping season, in addition to the Dillard's website.

Dillard's was the last anchor to renovate its original 1970s Ivey's facade and interior, and Crate and Barrel joined the mall as an outparcel in 2007 in the new Village at SouthPark, which includes street-level retail and restaurants and luxury apartments.

In February 1992, Thalhimers was merged into The Hecht Company ( May's Washington, DC division ), and nearly all locations were rebranded as Hecht's, excluding the two Charleston, SC stores and the Memphis, TN store which were sold to Dillard's, and the store at Lynnhaven Mall, which remained open as Thalhimers until May 1992.

Most of Coral Ridge Mall's anchors, except for Younkers and Dillard's, relocated from other shopping centers in the Iowa City area ; Younkers ran two stores in Johnson County before closing its Old Capitol Mall store in January 2005.
