These powers are specific to each character ; for example, Yoshi drops eggs which cause players who hit them to lose coins and spin, while Donkey Kong Jr. throws bananas.

The Donkey Kong character in later Mario Kart games is considered to be the grown-up version of Super Mario Karts Donkey Kong Jr.

The cast is made up of the same characters from Mario Kart 64 ( Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Wario and Toad ).

According to this game, Peach was classified as lighter than Yoshi and Bowser was classified heavier than Donkey Kong, although most Mario games classify Peach being heavier than Yoshi while Bowser is lighter than Donkey Kong.

Yoshi made a cameo appearance in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest as one of the competiters in Cranky's Video Game Heroes show.

Since then he has starred in his own series of games, starting with 1994's Donkey Kong Country for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and remains an important character in the spin-off games of the Mario series, having since been replaced by Bowser as Mario's arch nemesis.

The Donkey Kong Country series introduced the setting, Donkey Kong Island, and backstory for the character.

The new Donkey Kong introduced in " Donkey Kong Country " was initially characterized as the grandson of the original Donkey Kong, who appears in the game as an elderly ape named Cranky Kong, however Donkey Kong 64 states that the current Donkey Kong was actually meant to be Cranky Kong's son, with one source implying that he is a grown-up version of Donkey Kong Jr.

However, in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Donkey Kong Country Returns, the current Donkey Kong is referred to as Cranky's grandson.

The story designs of the present DK series, which began with Donkey Kong Country, is clearly different, which Nintendo uses alteration of generations to explain.

The original Donkey Kong ( later established to be a younger version of Cranky Kong from the Donkey Kong Country series ) made his first appearance as the titular character of the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong alongside protagonist Mario ( then known as " Jumpman ") and damsel in distress, the Lady ( later renamed Pauline ).

The 1994 Super Nintendo Entertainment System game Donkey Kong Country, developed by British game developer Rare was the beginning of a series.

The game was followed by a 2006 sequel titled Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, where Donkey Kong, who is infatuated with Pauline, kidnaps her and takes her to the roof of the Super Mini-Mario World amusement park when she ignores a Mini Donkey Kong toy in favor of a Mini-Mario.

First appearing in World 2 – 1, most of his gameplay reflects Donkey Kong Jr., even featuring the Snapjaw enemies from the game.

The game added the ability to pick up and toss enemies and objects, a move that has become part of Mario's permanent repertoire, appearing in other Mario games including Super Mario Bros. 3, Donkey Kong ( Game Boy ), Super Mario World, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Super Mario 64, Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Sunshine, New Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest ( abbreviated to DKC2 ) is a 1995 adventure platform game developed for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System ( otherwise known as the " SNES ") produced by Rareware ( UK ) and published by Nintendo ( Japan )-with Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong starring as the main characters of the game.

Donkey Kong Country 2 was released on December 14, 1995 as a sequel to the original Donkey Kong Country ( 1994 ) which was later followed by Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!

Donkey Kong Country 2 also focuses more on the seaside and pirate-themed apparel of the enemies whereas in the first game the apparel was themed like the jungle.

The main characters of Donkey Kong Country 2 are Dixie Kong and Diddy Kong, both of whom are trying to defeat Kaptain K. Rool and rescue Donkey Kong from him.

The third installment in the Donkey Kong Country series tracks the player's progress through the game using a percentage similar to the first 2.

Unlike Donkey Kong Country 2, rather than simply having to track down the hidden coin, the player must solve a small puzzle involving using a rolling barrel to strike an enemy using the coin as a shield from behind.

The game went to sell 2. 89 million copies worldwide, with 1. 7 million copies sold in Japan, and has a 86 % for SNES and a 75 % for Game Boy Advance on GameRankings, the lowest of the three Donkey Kong Country games.

The game was later followed by Donkey Kong Land 2 and Donkey Kong Land III which are both for the Game Boy along with Donkey Kong Land itself.

The player starts out with access to Donkey Kong only, then goes on to unlock each of the other four Kongs as part of the gameplay ( in the order of Diddy, Lanky or Tiny, and then Chunky ).

Its rapid production schedule was inspired by UK series Drop The Dead Donkey, where each episode was written and taped in a single week and scripts were closely based on the real news stories of the preceding seven days.

The events leading to Luigi's creation began in 1982, during the development of Donkey Kong, where the Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto had created Mario ( then known as " Jumpman ") hoping that he would be able to recast the character in a variety of different roles in future games.

As Jumpman, the player must reach Donkey Kong at the top of each stage, where he is holding the Lady captive.

The ape reappeared the following year in the sequel Donkey Kong Junior, where Donkey Kong is taken captive and locked in a cage by the renamed Mario, while Donkey Kong Junior sets out to rescue him.

The game also features mini-games such as a tennis version of a shooting gallery where, as Donkey Kong, the player must hit the banana targets on the wall to earn points in a set amount of time.

From the time that products-mainly strawberries for the neighbouring town Beverwijk, where the fruits were sold-were brought to the market with donkeys, people from Heemskerk got the name of Donkey as a nickname and symbol.

Donkey Kong Country is a platform game where players must complete 40 different side-scrolling levels ( 41 in the Game Boy Color version ) and recover the Kongs ' banana hoard, which has been stolen by the Kremlings.

The park has a large water area ( called a balancing pond ) where a firework show is held once a year, usually on the closest Saturday to Guy Fawkes Night and the Sandhurst Donkey Derby-a community festival-is also an annual event.

Outside of video games, Diddy Kong appeared in the TV show Donkey Kong Country, where he is played by Andrew Sabiston.

He later appeared as a playable character in Donkey Kong 64, a 3D sequel to the Donkey Kong Country titles, where he, Donkey Kong, and others go through DK Island to defeat King K. Rool yet again.

The same year, he briefly returned to A ’ s by guesting, as himself, in the Olsen and Johnson musical Crazy House, where he again performed " Donkey Serenade.

Tilston remarked that, throughout the course of development, they noticed how the video game industry had evolved as computing and graphics power increased, and how earlier games like GoldenEye 007 and Donkey Kong Country where their development costs were minimal could easily be profitable with a few programmers.

Games such as the pioneering 1981 games Donkey Kong and Qix in 1981 introduced new types of games where skill and timing are more important than shooting as fast as possible, with Nintendo's Donkey Kong in particular setting the template for the platform game genre.
