New Stories from the South has collected the work of many prominent modern American writers, including Steve Almond, Russell Banks, John Barth, Madison Smartt Bell, Wendell Berry, Roy Blount Jr., Larry Brown, James Lee Burke, Robert Olen Butler, Andre Dubus, William Faulkner ( a newly discovered story ), Barry Hannah, Nanci Kincaid, Aaron Gwyn, Barbara Kingsolver, Bobbie Ann Mason, Reynolds Price, Keith Lee Morris, John Sayles, Lucy Corin, Lee Smith, and Peter Taylor.

A member of PEN American Center, Andre Dubus III has served as a panelist for The National Book Foundation, The National Endowment for the Arts, and has taught writing at Harvard University, Tufts University, Emerson College, and the University of Massachusetts Lowell where he is a full-time faculty member.

Andre Dubus III ( born 1959 ) is an American novelist and writer of short stories.

Dubus ' novel House of Sand and Fog ( 1999 ) was a finalist for the National Book Award and the basis for an Academy award-nominated film.

The film is a drama which was based on the short stories We Don't Live Here Anymore and Adultery by Andre Dubus, and depicts the crisis of two married couples.

Burke is the cousin of short story writer Andre Dubus II.

Son of the Louisiana-born writer Andre Dubus, Andre Dubus III grew up in mill towns in the Merrimack River valley along the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border.

Andre Dubus III's aunt is the novelist Elizabeth Nell Dubus, mother of DeLaune Michel, also a novelist.
