The Electric Light Orchestra Story, Bev Bevan's memoirs from his early days and throughout his career with The Move and ELO, were also published in 1980.

The album also shed the customary ELO logo that had appeared on every album since 1976.

" Bergstrom also credits the album for heavily influencing the likes of ELO, My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear, as well as helping bring about the dream pop phenomenon.

It was also the final ELO studio album to become a worldwide top 40 hit upon release.

The album, in its original form has also the shortest running time in the ELO catalogue.

His distinctive voice can also be best heard on later ELO songs such as " Nightrider " ( 1975 ), " Poker " ( 1975 ), " Above the Clouds " ( 1976 ), " Sweet Is the Night " ( 1977 ), " Across the Border " ( 1977 ) and " The Diary of Horace Wimp " ( 1979 ).

He toured worldwide with The Orchestra ( former members of ELO and ELO Part II ) and also took part in tours as part of a local, little known band called Session 60.

Wayne also made a few recordings with the Electric Light Orchestra as guest vocalist, though these remained unreleased, until they appeared as bonus tracks on a remastered re-issue of the group's second album, ELO 2 in 2003.

Many members of ELO also released solo albums or singles on Jet in the late 1970s.

ELO effectively disbanded after that final show in Stuttgart in 1986, but there was no announcement made of it for the next two years, during which George Harrison's Lynne-produced album Cloud Nine and the pair's follow-up ( with Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty as Traveling Wilburys ) Traveling Wilburys Vol.

Lynne made two albums (" Looking On " and " Message from the Country ") and a handful of singles with the Move, including the first version of " Do Ya ", as work on the first ELO album continued in the studio throughout 1970 and 1971.

From June 11 – 21, he made his debut at the Bazna Kings Tournament in Romania in a field including Carlsen, world No. 5 Vassily Ivanchuk, world No. 6 Sergey Karjakin, world No. 13 Teimour Radjabov and Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu ; the tournament was a Category XXI event with an average ELO of 2760, making it the third strongest tournament in history ; Nakamura finished 4½ / 10 ; the tournament was won by Carlsen on tiebreak over Karjakin.

He later made contributions to the ELO II album and performed on the hit singles " Roll Over Beethoven ", " Showdown " and " Ma-Ma-Ma Belle " playing alongside cellists Colin Walker and Mike Edwards.

Over time, many features were added to the ICS, such as ELO ratings and support for graphical clients, and the server was made more stable.

The band released their second album, ELO 2 in 1973, which produced their first US chart single, a hugely elaborate version of the Chuck Berry classic " Roll Over Beethoven ".

It was on the American tour that ELO first debuted their use of coloured lasers.

ELO had reached the peak of their stardom, selling millions of albums and singles, and even inspiring a parody / tribute song on the Randy Newman album Born Again, titled " The Story of a Rock and Roll Band ".

ELO Part II released their debut album Electric Light Orchestra Part Two in 1990.

The disc pays homage to classic rock songs of their childhood, originally recorded by Blondie, The Kinks, Sweet, ELO, and Badfinger among others.

ELO had soundtrack hits of their own with " I'm Alive " and " All Over the World ".

Discovery is notable in that it was the first ELO album not to feature their resident string trio of Mik Kaminski, Hugh McDowell and Melvyn Gale, although they did make an appearance on the Discovery music videos that were created as a substitute for a live concert tour.

ELO played some live concerts in the UK and Europe ( their last for fifteen years ), and in one UK show George Harrison performed as guest guitarist.

ELO then set off on their Eldorado tour.

This album featured fellow ELO members Bev Bevan, Richard Tandy, Mik Kaminski and their orchestral co-arranger and conductor Louis Clark.

He replaced original ELO violinist Steve Woolam in 1972 and performed in their first live concert.

Later, in 1972, Tandy was the bass player in the first live line-up of ELO, then switching to keyboards when Jeff Lynne decided that their live sound needed improvement.

Olé ELO is the second compilation album by the Electric Light Orchestra covering their early years.

" Roll Over Beethoven " was the second single released by the band, and became their second consecutive top ten hit in the UK, as well as a hit in the United States when an edited version of the track was taken from ELO 2.

It was the first ELO tour without cellists, although Mik Kaminski returned to play his famous " blue violin.

On CD one the first five tracks include the original ELO 2 album.

Louis Clark returned to conduct the strings once more and violinist Mik Kaminski appeared on an ELO recording for the first time since 1977's Out of the Blue, playing a violin solo on the track " Rock ' n ' Roll Is King.

A number of " ELO firsts " can be attributed to this album: it was the first ELO album not to feature any strings whatsoever ; the first to feature a saxophone solo ; and the band's first compact disc issued.

" A 3 – 0 shutout of Georgia and a 3 – 1 defeat of Italy in the first Euro 2008 qualifiers took France back to the top of the ELO rankings.

The Jet label was first used in the USA for ELO leader Jeff Lynne's solo single " Doin ' That Crazy Thing " in the summer of 1977 and subsequently for the ELO album Out of the Blue.

In 2000, Jeff Lynne found a new impetus to work on the music of his old band and returned to the recording studio to work on an ELO project for the first time in some 15 years just prior to the comeback Zoom in 2001 resulting in a digitally remastered compilation released in late 2000.

Tandy is featured on all ELO albums with the exception of the first.

Electric Light Orchestra's elaborate eight-minute reworking of " Roll Over Beethoven ", appearing on the album ELO 2 in 1973, included an opening musical quote from Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and clever interpolations of material from the symphony's first movement into Berry's song.

The B-side, " Queen of the Hours ," was the first ever ELO published song, released by Harvest Records in November 1971 in a compilation called The Harvest Bag which featured various Harvest records artists.

Despite predictions from the music press that the band would fold without Wood, who had been the driving force behind the creation of ELO, Lynne stepped up to lead the band, with Bev Bevan remaining on drums, joined by Gibson, Richard Tandy ( now on the Moog synthesiser ), Mike de Albuquerque on bass and vocals and Mike Edwards and Colin Walker on cellos.

ELO had become successful in the United States at this point and the group was a star attraction on the stadium and arena circuit, as well as regularly appearing on The Midnight Special ( 1973, 1975, 1976 & 1977 ) more than any other band in that show's history with four appearances.

Lynne, with the 7-piece line-up that supported Time ( with the exception of bassist Groucutt being replaced by Martin Smith ), played a small number of live ELO performances in 1986, including shows in England and Germany along with US appearances on American Bandstand, Solid Gold, then at Disneyland that summer.

Bevan approached Lynne to make another ELO album in 1988, but Lynne was not interested and went on to announce that ELO was no more.

Bevan ( under an agreement with Lynne who co-owned the ELO name with him ) continued on in 1989 as ELO Part II, initially with no other former ELO members except Clark.

Though billed and marketed as an ELO album, the only returning member other than Lynne was Tandy, who performed on one track.

Former ELO member Tandy rejoined the band a short time afterwards for two television live performances: VH1 Storytellers and a PBS concert shot at CBS Television City, later titled Zoom Tour Live, that was released on DVD.

Two other players auditioned and considered during the band's formation were former The Move and ELO founder Roy Wood and the aforementioned guitarist / singer Trevor Rabin, who would go on to be part of a reformed Yes in 1983.
