As of June 2007, Bruce Lundvall, founder of Manhattan Records, continued as President / CEO of the Blue Note Label Group, at the time reporting directly to Eric Nicoli, then Chief Executive Officer of EMI Group.

It continued to operate the label with moderate success until 1972, when it was retired and replaced by the EMI Records imprint, so if you see any Columbia Records manufactured outside North America between 1972 and 1992, they are rare indeed.

In 1931 RCA was instrumental in the creation of EMI, which continued to own the " His Master's Voice " name and image in the UK.

In 1935 RCA sold its stake in EMI but continued to own Victor and the rights to His Master's Voice in the Americas.

European sales slowed on 2 October 2000, the day of official release, when 150, 000 faulty CDs were recalled by EMI.

In 2013, Cilla Black will celebrate 50 years in show business ; as a prelude to this landmark anniversary, EMI ( the record label which launched her career in 1963 ) release on 23 April 2012 Completely Cilla: 1963-1973-a 5CD set containing 139 recordings ( all produced by George Martin ) and a bonus DVD of rare BBC TV music performances.
