In film-making Elstree Studios has risen to prominence ; landmark films and television that have been produced there include the first and second Star Wars films ( chronologically, i. e. Episodes IV and V ), Indiana Jones, and Superman, and British television shows Dancing on Ice, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire ?, and Big Brother.

Episodes of this nature have been produced on topics such as models and modeling shows, fights on television, and talk shows, two " Chicks, Man / Ladies, Ladies, Ladies " specials focusing on reality TV females, a show about love and marriage called " Love and Other Burning Sensations ", and most recently, a show dedicated to television programs that have had recurring appearances on The Soup ( the " shows just cannot quit ").

Episodes varied from superhero type stories to parodies of shows like The Honeymooners (" Mighty's Wedlock Whimsy ") and the 1960s Batman series (" Night of the Bat-Bat " and " Bat With a Golden Tongue "), movies like Fantastic Voyage (" Mundane Voyage ") and Japanese monster films ( the opening of " Mighty's Wedlock Whimsy "), comic books (" See You in the Funny Papers "), and even lampooned other cartoons (" Don't Touch That Dial!

Episodes of many of the defunct shows still find airtime on ISUtv.

Episodes contained a laugh track, one of the first Saturday morning cartoon shows to do so ( a laugh track was even used in the main titles for " A Clue for Scooby-Doo ").

Episodes ranged from high drama (" Bushwacked ", episode # 392, 1971 ; " Shanklin ", episode # 409, 1972 ) to broad comedy (" Hoss and the Leprechauns ", episode # 146, 1964 ; " Caution, Bunny Crossing ", episode # 358, 1969 ) and addressed such meaty issues as the environment (" Different Pines, Same Wind ", episode # 304, 1968 ), substance abuse (" The Hidden Enemy ", episode # 424, 1972 ), domestic violence (" First Love ", episode # 427, 1972 ), anti-war sentiment (" The Weary Willies ", episode # 364, 1970 ), and illegitimate births (" Love Child ", episode # 370, 1970 ; " Rock-A-Bye Hoss ", episode # 393, 1971 ).

Episodes include Andy's wedding (" Andy & Helen Get Married ", episode # 1 ); the christening of their infant son Andy (" Andy's Baby ", episode # 27 ); Aunt Bee getting engaged, (" Aunt Bee and the Captain ", episode # 16 ); friction over a parade (" Mayberry's Float ", episode # 39 ); and a visit from Goober's rocket-scientist brother (" Goober's Brother ", episode # 44 ).

Episodes generally centered on the ghostly con-man Beetlejuice, his best ( and only true ) friend Lydia, and their adventures together in both the Neitherworld and the " real world ", a fictional New England town called Peaceful Pines (" Winter River " in the film ).

Episodes 13 and 14 (" Defense " and " Offense ") form a two-part story, while episodes 21 and 22 (" Dosed " and " Iced ") form a two-part story ending on a cliffhanger which sees Billie Chambers kidnapped and forced to do drugs.
