In April 2009, the band embarked on a North American headlining tour, co-headlined by Exodus, and featuring Belphegor, Warbringer, and Epicurean.

He, along with Moses, performed " signs " before his people which impressed them with a belief in the reality of the divine mission of the brothers ( Exodus 4: 15 – 16 ).

At the battle with Amalek, he is chosen with Hur to support the hand of Moses that held the " rod of God " ( Exodus 17: 9 ).

Joshua, however, was admitted with his leader to the very presence of the Lord, while Aaron and Hur remained below to look after the people ( Exodus 24: 9-14 ).

This new Exodus is repeatedly linked with Israel's Exodus from Egypt to Canaan under divine guidance, but with new elements.

The theophany in Exodus begins " the third day " from their arrival at Sinai in chapter 19: Yahweh and the people meet at the mountain, God appears in the storm and converses with Moses, giving him the Ten Commandments while the people listen.

The goal of the divine plan as revealed in Exodus is a return to man's state in Eden, so that God can dwell with the Israelites as he had with Adam and Eve through the Ark and Tabernacle, which together form a model of the universe ; in later Abrahamic religions this came to be interpreted as Israel being the guardian of God's plan for mankind, to bring " God's creation blessing to mankind " begun in Adam.

In May 1985, the vessel was instrumental for ' Operation Exodus ', the evacuation of about 300 Rongelap Atoll islanders whose home had been contaminated with nuclear fallout from a US nuclear test two decades ago which had never been cleaned up and was still having severe health effects on the locals.

1984 concert photos from Exodus shows at Aquatic Park's Eastern Front Metal Festival ( with Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies ) and Ruthie's Inn ( with Megadeth and Slayer ) were included on the album sleeve inserts.

In August 2001, friends of Billy organized the Thrash of the Titans benefit concert, featuring seminal Bay Area thrash bands Vio-Lence, Death Angel, Exodus, Heathen, and others.

Along with Death Angel, Defiance, Testament and Exodus ( the latter of the two have featured original Forbidden drummer Paul Bostaph ), they are one of the most successful Bay Area thrash metal bands and earned a growing fan-base in the underground music community and critical acclaim, with their debut album Forbidden Evil ( 1988 ) described by critics as a classic thrash metal album.

They reformed once again in 2002 to record a live album entitled Alive Again followed by several European tours, first with Testament and Death Angel, then with Exodus and Agent Steel.

Burton and Hammett's friendship with other local acts, notably Oakland's Exodus and Testament, and later, San Francisco's Death Angel – among others – strongly vitalized the scene, leading to intensive touring and tape trading that would cross borders and seas, and eventually graduate to record signings.

Sadus bassist Steve DiGiorgio and Floridian guitarist James Murphy ( both alums of Schuldiner's band Death ) would join ranks with the band, in addition to former or session members of Forbidden, Exodus, and Slayer.

The classic Vio-Lence line-up ( minus Machine Head's Robb Flynn ), Death Angel, Heathen, Forbidden ( going under their original name, Forbidden Evil ), Anthrax, Sadus, Stormtroopers of Death and Exodus were among the performers.

Death Angel and Heathen would reform and record new albums as a result of their reunions for the benefit concert, and Exodus, who had been on semi-hiatus at the time, asked 80s era singer Steve Souza to rejoin the band after Baloff's death, also leading to a new album.

Simon and Stroud listed classic hard rock bands, like AC / DC, Led Zeppelin and Kiss, and old school thrash and death metal bands, like Exodus, Slayer and Morbid Angel among their influences, while Hoglan's influences range wildly in style from Stevie Wonder to progressive rock drummers like Neil Peart, Terry Bozzio and Nick Mason.
