Exodus co-headlined with Kreator, Suicidal Angels and Death Angel on the Thrashfest 2010 tour in late 2010 and will be one of the headlining bands on the bill for Wacken Open Air 2011 ( Announced 23 December 2010 ).

They brought thrash metal to their music, influenced by bands such as Slayer, Exodus, Kreator and hardcore bands around the world that were also transitioning to a more thrash metal sound, like Suicidal Tendencies, D. R. I., English Dogs, Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front and others ( including Brazilian bands such as Lobotomia and Armagedom ).

1984 concert photos from Exodus shows at Aquatic Park's Eastern Front Metal Festival ( with Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies ) and Ruthie's Inn ( with Megadeth and Slayer ) were included on the album sleeve inserts.

In August 2001, friends of Billy organized the Thrash of the Titans benefit concert, featuring seminal Bay Area thrash bands Vio-Lence, Death Angel, Exodus, Heathen, and others.
Along with Death Angel, Defiance, Testament and Exodus ( the latter of the two have featured original Forbidden drummer Paul Bostaph ), they are one of the most successful Bay Area thrash metal bands and earned a growing fan-base in the underground music community and critical acclaim, with their debut album Forbidden Evil ( 1988 ) described by critics as a classic thrash metal album.
They reformed once again in 2002 to record a live album entitled Alive Again followed by several European tours, first with Testament and Death Angel, then with Exodus and Agent Steel.
Burton and Hammett's friendship with other local acts, notably Oakland's Exodus and Testament, and later, San Francisco's Death Angel – among others – strongly vitalized the scene, leading to intensive touring and tape trading that would cross borders and seas, and eventually graduate to record signings.

Simon and Stroud listed classic hard rock bands, like AC / DC, Led Zeppelin and Kiss, and old school thrash and death metal bands, like Exodus, Slayer and Morbid Angel among their influences, while Hoglan's influences range wildly in style from Stevie Wonder to progressive rock drummers like Neil Peart, Terry Bozzio and Nick Mason.
