The brother of the Pierre Daninos, Jean Daninos had founded the company FACEL ( Forges et Ateliers des Constructions d ' Eure-et-Loir, forge and construction workshop for the department of Eure-et-Loir ) in 1939 with hopes of one day designing and manufacturing his own automobile.

The company was named after the original metal stamping company FACEL, and the company's first model, the Vega, named after the star, was introduced at the 1954 Paris Auto Show.

Intended as the luxury model in the range, the Comète's bodywork was built by FACEL, who later produced the better-known Facel Vega luxury cars under their own name.

The FACEL company produced the bodies of custom cars like the Panhard Dyna cabriolet and the Ford Comète.

During ten years of production, FACEL had manufactured 3, 000 automobiles.

Also the Schneider company had expected to be able to employ the other major French arms producer, the Forges et Aciéries de la Marine et d ' Homécourt, as a subcontractor but this rival proceeded to develop from the alternative prototype ordered by Mourret a heavier tank design, the Saint-Chamond.

Évariste Desiré de Forges, vicomte de Parny ( February 6, 1753 on the Isle of Bourbon ( Reunion ) – December 5, 1814, Paris, France ) was a French poet.
