Bound Brook's downtown flooding has led to several out-of-control fires over its history, including the fires of 1881 and 1887 which led to the formation of the Bound Brook Fire Department.

Fire would destroy more downtown businesses in 1903.

" The building used for exterior shots of McGinty's bar, a location of central importance to the series, was formerly used by the Chicago Fire Department, and is located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Franklin Street and West Illinois Street in downtown Chicago.

The scene where Angeline captures the bill was filmed on North 4th Street in downtown Minneapolis, in front of Fire Station No. 10 ( with traffic driving the wrong way for the movie ).

Since most buildings within the downtown area were destroyed ( the most famous exception being the Water Tower ) by the Great Chicago Fire in 1871, Chicago buildings are noted for their originality rather than their antiquity.
