Forever Changes is the third album by American rock band Love, released by Elektra Records in November 1967.

In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Forever Changes 40th in its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

"' Forever Changes ' made only a minor dent on the charts when it was first released in 1967, but years later it became recognized as one of the finest and most haunting albums to come out of the Summer of Love, which doubtless has as much to do with the disc's themes and tone as the music, beautiful as it is ," wrote Mark Deming in an entry for the online Allmusic guide.

"' Forever Changes ' is also an album that heralds the last days of a golden age and anticipates the growing ugliness that would dominate the counterculture in 1968 and 1969 ... ' Forever Changes ' is inarguably Love's masterpiece and an album of enduring beauty, but it's also one of the few major works of its era that saw the dark clouds looming on the cultural horizon, and the result was music that was as prescient as it was compelling.

The remaining personnel performed on nine of the eleven tracks on Forever Changes.

" Lee also noted that since the name of the band was Love, the full title was " Love Forever Changes ".

" That was three different songs ... yet they were brought together to sound like one, which was fantastic ," lead guitarist John Echols said of " You Set The Scene " in the liner notes by Andrew Sandoval for the " Collector's Edition " of " Forever Changes " that was released by Rhino Records in 2008.

"... Arthur's genius lay in his ability to imagine songs, with fully formed lyrics and melodies ," wrote John Einarson in " Forever Changes: Arthur Lee and the Book of Love ," an authorized biography on Lee that was released in 2010.

" Forever Changes " was included in its entirety on the 2-CD retrospective Love compilation " Love Story 1966-1972 ", released by Rhino Records in 1995.

The album was re-released in an expanded single-CD version by Rhino in 2001, featuring alternate mixes, outtakes and the group's 1968 single, " Your Mind and We Belong Together "/" Laughing Stock ", the last tracks that featured the " Forever Changes " line-up of Johnny Echols, Ken Forssi, Michael Stuart and Bryan MacLean ( Forssi and MacLean both died in 1998 ).

" The Forever Changes Concert " was released in 2003 to great critical acclaim and marked the first time many of the songs had been performed live.

Both versions include the complete " Forever Changes " album.

" In the liner notes to both sets, David Sinclair wrote that "' Forever Changes ' has always held a place of honour in the hearts of British fans.

The second disc contains a previously unissued alternate mix of " Forever Changes " ( according to the liner notes, the original master of " Forever Changes " is missing, although the alternate mix was made from it at some point ).

The alternate mix of " Forever Changes " included in the second disc features a proto-rap by Lee on a slightly longer version of the album closer " You Set The Scene " that was edited out of the final version that was released commercially.

A Super High Material CD ( SHM-CD ) version of " Forever Changes " was released in Japan in 2009.

The version given the SHM-CD treatment was the 2001 expanded single disc release from Rhino Records featuring the original eleven songs from " Forever Changes " plus seven bonus tracks.

" Forever Changes ," with colorful, iconic cover art by Bob Pepper and Ronnie Haran's equally iconic photograph of the band on the back cover, was a commercial failure upon its release in the United States in late 1967.

In 1965 Lerner collaborated again with Burton Lane on the musical On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, which was adapted for film in 1970.

He was entombed in Hollywood Memorial Cemetery ( now known as Hollywood Forever Cemetery ).

After fifteen years in development hell, a direct sequel was released called Duke Nukem Forever.

Wiederhold was later hired by 3D Realms to work on the sequel Duke Nukem Forever.

One of Munsch's best-known books, Love You Forever, was listed fourth on the 2001 Publishers Weekly All-Time Best selling Children's Books list for paperbacks at 6, 970, 000 copies ( not including the 1, 049, 000 hardcover copies ).

" Forever Changes " had a much stronger showing in Britain, where it reached No. 24 on the UK album chart in 1968.

" Forever Changes " ranked No. 34 in the " Critic's Choice, The Top 100 Rock ' n ' Roll Albums of All Time " by Paul Gambaccini.

Ken Barnes, then editor and vice president of Radio and Records, chose " Forever Changes " as his No. 3 all-time album.

In a special issue of Mojo magazine, " Forever Changes " was ranked the second greatest psychedelic album of all time, while in 1995 it made No. 11 in Mojo's list of the 100 Greatest Albums Ever Made.

Another notable retrospective praise came in 2003 from the British magazine, NME, which rated Forever Changes No. 6 on their list of greatest albums of all time.

Vincent " Vicente " Rodriguez, former pop music critic at the Dallas Morning News, lists " Forever Changes " as his No. 1 all-time album.

The romantic ballad " Forever and For Always " was released as a single in April 2003 and peaked at No. 4 on the country chart and No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, and made as well the Billboard Top 20.

The Dr. No comic strip was reprinted in 2005 by Titan Books as part of the Dr. No anthology that also includes Diamonds Are Forever and From Russia, with Love.

Four more songs from the album Dead Man's Party were used in soundtracks: " No One Lives Forever " was featured in Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, " Stay " ( in the Boingo Alive version ) was used as the theme music for the Brazilian soap opera Top Model, " Same Man I Was Before " was used in My Best Friend Is a Vampire and " Just Another Day " opened the 1985 film adaptation of S. E. Hinton's That Was Then, This Is Now.

Whitmore appeared as General Oliver O. Howard in the 1975 television film I Will Fight No More Forever, based on the 1877 conflict between the United States Army and the Nez Percé tribe, led by Chief Joseph.
