From 1966 to 1996, the bridge carried the M4 motorway.

From north to south they are: Caerleon Bridge, St. Julian's railway bridge, M4 motorway Usk bridge, Great Western Railway Usk bridge, Newport Bridge, Newport City footbridge, George Street Bridge, City Bridge and Transporter Bridge.

From the M4 motorway Junction 42, just east of Swansea, it travels west along the Fabian way towards Swansea where it turns to a northwesterly direction towards the M4 motorway junction 47 at Penllergaer after which the route is multiplexed with the A48 along Swansea Road, Bryntirion Road, Bolgoed Road to Pontarddulais.

From the M4 Motorway at J15 near Swindon, traffic is directed for Wales if it is over the Severn Bridge weight limit of 44 tonnes.

From North Strathfield to Russell Street, Emu Plains the highway is now state route 44 ( as is the section of Russell Street from the Highway to the M4 ).

From the M4 ( approx 20 mins ): exit the motorway at Junction 18.

From then on it runs parallel to Wallgrove Road north towards the Great Western Highway and the Light Horse interchange, a stack junction with the M4.

From the M4 to Cirencester it is a dual carriageway road, which generally follows the course of the Roman road Ermin Street, but dualling work completed in the late 1990s, and the bypass of Cirencester, has taken it off-course in some places.

From the start of the Cirencester bypass to Gloucester, the A417 forms part of a major new dual-carriageway route ( A419 / A417 ) connecting the M4 ( junction 15 ) with the M5 at Gloucester ( junction 11A ).

From north-east to south-west: Burghfield Bridge is the closest to Reading and lies by the crossing of the Reading Road over the River Kennet ; this is followed by Burghfield Village, after the crossing of the Burghfield Road over the M4 motorway which runs through the north of the parish ; Burghfield Hill is in the southern upland part of the parish, naturally enough, at the top of Burghfield Hill ; and Burghfield Common – named after the parish common land on which it was built and with by far the largest population – lies, in quick succession, the furthest south-west.

From the A46, the road heads east past Bingham on the £ 2. 6 million (£ as of ), Bingham bypass opened in December 1986.

From Canton, Route 128 and Interstate 95 heads northwest, north, northeast and east around the Boston area to Peabody, where I-95 splits to head north toward Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

From its western terminus, Route 28 heads east through Raritan, intersecting County Route 567 and then U. S. Route 202 and U. S. Route 206 at the Somerville Circle before heading through the central part of Somerville.

From 1641 to 1643, and again from 1647 to 1650, he was chancellor of the university of Oxford ; in 1648 he removed some of the heads of houses from their positions because they would not take the Solemn League and Covenant, and his foul language led to the remark that he was more fitted " by his eloquence in swearing to preside over Bedlam than a learned academy ".

From this intersection, it heads north concurrenct with County Route 509 as a four-lane divided highway with a speed limit, soon interchanging with U. S. Route 46.

From here, the route becomes a four-lane divided surface road and heads into urbanized areas of downtown Paterson.

From here, Route 120 heads northwest along the northern edge of the sports complex as a four-lane divided at-grade Paterson Plank Road, passing through industrial and commercial areas.

From there, the road heads east through wooded neighborhoods before turning north onto Glen Road.

From its terminal at Howard in Chicago, the line heads north to the South Boulevard, Main, Dempster, Davis, Foster, Noyes, and Central stations, before terminating at Linden in Wilmette.

From its earliest days, the King David Hotel hosted royalty: the dowager empress of Persia, queen mother Nazli of Egypt and King Abdullah I of Jordan stayed at the hotel, and three heads of state forced to flee their countries took up residence there: King Alfonso XIII of Spain, forced to abdicate in 1931, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, driven out by the Italians in 1936, and King George II of Greece who set up his government in exile at the hotel after the Nazi occupation of his country in 1942.

From here it makes a wide horseshoe bend, passing Neaves Drainage mill as it heads towards Ludham Bridge.

From there it heads southeast, until Milbank.

From Nether Denton, the road continues to follow the River Irthing and heads towards present-day Brampton.

From this point, the road heads north to a partial interchange with the Atlantic City Expressway that has access from southbound Route 73 to the eastbound Atlantic City Expressway and from the westbound Atlantic City Expressway to northbound Route 73.

From Waddington's 13, 186 ft fang to sea level at the heads of Bute and Knight Inlets is only a few miles ; across the gorges of the Homathko and the Klinaklini Rivers stand mountains almost as high, and icefields even vaster and whiter, only a few aerial miles away, with a maw deeper than the Grand Canyon, comparable in relief to the Himalayas ( to which the terrain of British Columbia was compared by colonial-era travellers ).
