A different approach to the debate has been taken by other historians, including David Fromkin, author of Europe's Last Summer: Who Started the Great War in 1914 ?, and David Stevenson, author of Cataclysm: The First World War as Political Tragedy.

Fromkin, in fact, has advocated referring to the " Moltke Plan " as opposed to the " Schlieffen Plan ", as it may have been more a product of Moltke's misreading of the Schlieffen Memorandum of 1905 and its 1906 codicil.

Fromkin was active in the Communist Party USA, reaching positions of party leadership in California, but she resigned from membership shortly after the revelations of Stalinist crimes by Nikita Krushchev in 1956.

In 1974, Fromkin was commissioned by the producers of the children's television series Land of the Lost to create a language for a species of primitive cavemen / primates called the Pakuni.

To support the internal mythology, linguist Victoria Fromkin was even commissioned to create a special language for the Pakuni, which she based on the sounds of West African speech and attempted to build into the show in a gradual way that would allow viewers to learn the language over the course of many episodes.

Victoria Fromkin ( May 16, 1923 – January 19, 2000 ) was an American linguist who taught at UCLA.

Fromkin was born in Passaic, New Jersey as Victoria Alexandra Landish on May 16, 1923.

She married Jack Fromkin, a childhood friend from Passaic, in 1948, and they settled in Los Angeles, California.

That same year, Fromkin joined the faculty of the linguistics department at UCLA.
