When John Lawson Johnston died, George Lawson Johnston inherited the Bovril business.

In 1619 George William inherited the Margravate of Brandenburg and the Duchy of Prussia.

* On October 15, 2003, at 15: 21, the Andrew J. Barberi ( in another accident ) collided with a pier ( see 2003 Staten Island Ferry crash ) on the eastern end of the St. George ferry terminal, killing eleven people, seriously injuring many others, and tearing a huge slash through the lowest of the three passenger decks.

The terminal station at St. George provides a direct connection to the Staten Island Ferry.

Three years later, the North Vancouver Ferry and Power Company was created, took over, and built a new craft called St. George.

The completion of the George Massey Tunnel in 1959 linking Ladner to Richmond and Vancouver along with the opening, in 1960, of the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal and the Highway 99 being rerouted from the King George Highway in Surrey in 1962 to a new route through Delta, ended Delta's isolation and resulted in a massive 400 % population growth over the next 20 years.

On October 15, 2003, at 3: 21 p. m., the Staten Island Ferry vessel Andrew J. Barberi crashed full-speed into a concrete pier at the St. George ferry terminal.

The harbor is traversed by the Staten Island Ferry, which runs between Whitehall Street at the southernmost tip of Manhattan near Battery Park ( South Ferry ) and St. George Ferry Terminal on Richmond Terrace in Staten Island near Richmond County Borough Hall and Richmond County Supreme Court.

The area contains many old and historic building and sites, including Castle Garden, originally the fort Castle Clinton, Bowling Green, the old United States Customs House, now the National Museum of the American Indian, Federal Hall, where George Washington was inaugurated as the first U. S. President, Fraunces Tavern, New York City Hall, the New York Stock Exchange, renovated original mercantile buildings of the South Street Seaport ( and a modern tourist building ), the Brooklyn Bridge, South Ferry, embarkation point for the Staten Island Ferry and ferries to Liberty Island and Ellis Island, and Trinity Church.
