Ahmadis believe that this special emphasis was given through the person of Jesus and Mirza Ghulam Ahmad ( 1835 – 1908 ).

The Ahmadis believe that the promised Mahdi and Messiah ( being one and the same person ) has already arrived in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad ( 1835 – 1908 ).

This is largely due to the fact that their prophet, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, came over 1, 300 years after Muhammad, who is viewed as the " last of the prophets " by Sunni, Shia, and Ibadi variants of Islam.

Ghulam Ahmad is criticised by the orthodox Muslims for his support of the British Government in India and maintain that he and his associates went on publishing in favour of British control and even tried to convince Muslims in other Muslim countries that a British government would be in their favour.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad's critics allege that he had terminated Jihad, which is an important Islamic requirement, to appease the British.

Hazrat Khawaja Ghulam Farid ( Urdu, Saraiki < small >( Seraiki script, Punjabi :,: ਹਜ ਼ ਰਤ ਖ ਼੍ ਵ ਾ ਜ ਾ ਗ ਼ੁ ਲ ਾ ਮ ਫ ਼ ਰ ੀ ਦ, Hindi: हज ़ रत ख ़् व ा ज ा ग ़ु ल ा म फ ़ र ी द ) or Khawaja Farid ( 1845-1901 ) is considered one of the most read and respected sufi poets in the Indian subcontinent.

The design of this early model is generally credited to Niyamatullah Khan of the Lucknow Gharana as well as Ghulam Ali Khan of the Gwalior-Bangash Gharana.

Ali has also sung some beautiful ghazals like Kina kina timro tasveer, Gajalu tee thula thula aankha, Lolaaeka tee thula and Ke chha ra diun in Nepali language with Narayan Gopal, a well known Nepali singer, and composer Deepak Jangam. Those songs were written by King Mahendra of Nepal These songs were compiled in an album entitled Narayan Gopal, Ghulam Ali Ra Ma, and are popular among Nepali music lovers to this day.

For a long time, Bade Ghulam Ali stayed away from singing in films despite requests and persuasions from well known producers and music directors.

The city is known as the home town of Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Raheem.
